Degloving refers to removing the flesh from a finger or hand, so there is basically just exposed bone.
Bit of a challenge on the repairs when that occurs.
It’s probably a bit safer. I personally still wouldn’t take the chance. The problem is not just the size, but in how the pressure is put on the finger. Someone grabbing it, or having it pinned against something means the knife is probably not at the normal angle. Instead, part of that ring is going to be pushed into flesh at an awkward angle and that is where the degloving could potentially happen. As easily as a tighter ring? No, but too much for my comfort.
