    5. Smaller bipartisan majorities believe that religious liberty, the right to bear arms, and LGBTQ+ rights are “essential rights.”

    Religious liberty (90%) (90% Dem, 95% Rep, 88% Ind)
    Right to bear arms (73%) (58% Dem, 89% Rep, 74% Ind)
    LGBTQ rights (71%) (85% Dem, 53% Rep, 70% Ind)

    It will take me a while to get through all the boilerplate, but the initial scan takeaway seems to be that large parts of America largely feel the way I do on most things, most of the time.

    I’m ok with that.

    Very interesting. The amount of consensus, even on more contentious issues, appears strong.

    Also, my wiener dog believes in the inherent right to a cut of whatever I am eating.

    Put the big media clickbait toothpaste back in the tube, and get politicians to quit ginning up wedge issues to divide us.

    If the poll is to be believed, one could run for office on a very sensible consensus platform, and win by a landslide, just by acknowledging the importance of personal rights.

    But they’d never get past the nomination process.

    Unless they did an end run. The substance of that Carr/Harvard paper might just hold a clue as to how DJT got elected, from out of nowhere.
