Thread: Good RANGE Watch

If you don't mind an automatic movement, Orient Mako II diver watches get good reviews. It's a house brand of Seiko if I remember right.

If it's half the watch my Seiko Monster has been, you will have a hard time killing it. Autos do have to be worn and moved during your day.....and most only have a day or two "reserve" on them.

You lay them down for the weekend and they probably won't be running Monday. Side to side gentle shaking for a couple of minutes gets them fired back up and then you set them and go.

    Regards.

Looking at Timex, but open to suggestions. Price cap is about $150 (and it does need to look decent. Watches are one of the few things I actually care about on the fashion side)
Seiko 5. Usually under $100 and looks great.

I've had a Suunto Core for 6 years now. I've changed the battery twice I think?

The original wristband wore out eventually, but I've found this replacement to be far superior to the original.

If a digital G-Shock is not nice enough and the Seiko/Orient diver selections are pushing the 150.00 cap might I suggest the analog Casio Divers linked below. Very readable. under 50.00. Food for thought.

This one, basically (just change the band from OD green if you want "fancy"):

I’m thinking this is the winner. I had an eco-drive I loved and lost (to various moves and a flood). I don’t really like the Tactical Timmy stuff (I already have long hair and a beard due to laziness. Add a GShock or suunto and all of a sudden, I’m trying to impersonate a member of deltaseal19). Not saying that GShock, Casio (I had a pathfinder that was lost that was an excellent hiking companion), or suunto are bad, just not for me. For me on the range, the watch is used for “dude” timing duties. “On the line dudes”. “Holster dudes”. “Break dudes”. “Drink water dudes”. “30 minutes for lunch dudes”. Replace “dudes” with “fuckers” for folks I know and that know me.

How about just taking your watch off when you're engaging in these exercises?

    Shack.

G-Shocks, always. I'm on number five over the past 25 years. Multiple deployments in crappy conditions. They keep time more accurately than the Timex's I've had. Durable, inexpensive and easily replaced should it get lost. I took one to a depth of 115' for 40 minutes in Guam and it never hiccuped once.

    Currently using GW-7900B.

I've got a Seiko 5 on my wrist to take to today's USPSA match.
