Start Position: Holstered (or Ready if necessary, see below)
Rounds Fired: 10
This is a concise drill to work on drawing and engaging a small target at a reasonably long distance, under a modest amount of time pressure.
Set up a B8 target at 25 yards and par time to 4 seconds. The handgun starts loaded and holstered. If your range does not allow you to work from the holster, then present the gun from a ready position and use a 3 second par time.
At the start signal, draw (or present from ready) and fire one shot to the B8. Repeat until you have done a total of ten repetitions.
Target is scored as follows: Overtime shots count as misses. Hits outside the 9-ring earn zero points each. Hits to the 9-ring earn one point each. Hits to the 10-ring earn two points each. Hits to the X-ring earn three points each. If the grease ring touches the scoring line, the shot is in. There are 30 possible points for the ten shots.
The challenge of the drill is to get a consistent grip while not wasting any time on the draw, then to exert enough discipline to fire the most accurate shot you can, while under modest time pressure.
Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:
Pistol and holster used (or ready position alternative)
How many 9s
How many 10s
How many Xs

Anything you noticed
Note: After creating this drill, a friend made me aware of the No Fail SHOT! drill from Chuck Pressburg at Pressburg Consulting. The two drills definitely are similar, though not intentionally so. You can (and should) check out Chuck’s drill here: https://youtu.be/6L8TNhE3Lac
