I received these pictures today from Mr. Don Williams of The Action Works:
I bought this pistol back about eleven years ago. It was what we'd call a basket case. Someone had previously (poorly) fit a beavertail grip safety. The gun was missing a few parts (no barrel) but was in otherwise nice condition. Being that it was incomplete, I didn't pay much for it and Norinco 1911's weren't selling for much at that time.
Some years after purchase the frame and slide were sent to EGW. They checkered the frame and installed a set of Heinie sights. My idea was to turn the gun into a spare/backup gun for USPSA. But then the gun went back into the safe where it was more or less forgotten about. Well, finally, back in January I figured it was time to poop or get off the pot! I bought a Storm Lake barrel and a few other bits and pieces I didn't have then stuck everything into a box and shipped it out.
Now, the pistol is all done and on its way back. I'll post up a few more pictures and a bit of a range report ASAP.
Looking at the pictures, I may end up changing the grips out for something a bit lighter. A green or brown perhaps. Something that looks a bit more old school military. Thoughts?
