    Scott Reitz video on Vimeo

I stumbled across a few videos of Scott Reitz on Vimeo, they are pretty good. Reitz is paired with a young shooter in a competition of sorts. The young man in the video is quite annoying and Reitz takes it in stride, eventually teaching the man a few things. Seems like a great instructor, and there is a good clip of him running an 870, and some other mindset notes. If you look at the profile of the person who posted the video there are several links to versions of this video, different cuts.

The kid in the video is a former reality TV star from Laguna Beach or The Hills or one of those wretched shows my wife used to watch. Talk about world's colliding.

Why does the kid remind me of The Schofield Kid from Unforgiven?

He also managed to become buds with John McPhee and has been on the SOB podcast before.

He was originally associated with American Defense Enterprises, which could possibly be the dumbest trainers in the world. I'll assume he randomly signed up for one of their classes at a local range in LA, then got more into it and trained with Reitz and McPhee.

Scott Reitz has a ton of self control. That kid needs straightened out.

I had the pleasure of taking a class with Uncle Scotty and his crew a year ago. That kid needed to be schooled... I'm surprised that he only got one MF out of Uncle Scotty. I would have given him several.....

It's fun watching the self confidence gas tank drain to the E mark when feces gets real.

I've been fortunate to go to all sorts of shooting classes, low light, Sims, FATs, etc over the years. It taught me how little I truly knew even though I could run guns at a tender young age.

Even now, after two decades plus of LE work, I still don't want to be in a gunfight and don't consider myself the guru that others claim I am. There is still much to learn.

If I ran things, Sim training with scenarios based on real life cop work would rule yearly in-service training. Live fire at all times of day would be the balance of the training and patrol vehicles would be utilized. I'd not worry about nor find the usual excuses to avoid such training.

Being cocky will get you sad.....in harmless ways in the form of humbleness.....and in horrible ways such as death or damage. Finding that healthy balance of confidence without being cocky is where I strive to be. Thinking, shooting, moving, breathing.........all in motion......to work the problem and not let the problem work me.

Lots of folks have this kid's mentality.

    Regards.

In the past, @DaggaBoy has spoken very highly of ITTS (Scotty's school in the L.A. area). I'm considering doing some classes there in 2019.

I assume ITTS is still a solid venue for firearms training?

I don't think you should take Scott's willingness to give Mr. Reality TV a bitchslap as a condemnation of his school. Proceed with confidence.
