There is no indication whether it was a handgun or long gun, where the suspect was struck, or whether the entire bullet struck the child or only fragments etc.

Suffice to say shoot throughs are not common with modern pistol ammo but not unheard of.

Of course not - that would detract from the 'evil police shooting babies' headline. I bet the news agencies are disappointed the baby survived.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

    Wake County done "woke".

At least here in Transylvania Co., we just have to worry about vampires.

It's not the odds, it's the stakes.
There's nothing civil about this war.

Not exactly. Investigation is less than 12 hours old and none of that info is fully documented yet, much less publicly available.

Homicide investigations, even justified ones aren't wrapped up in 50 minutes to allow for commercial breaks in the real world.

The only real negative in the linked report was the comment about the suspect having a gun but no indication being given as to whether or not the suspect had pointed the gun at police which is not an actual requirement for use of deadly force.

Homeowner shot in leg, suspect shot in head after masked men invade home

Officials say two masked men went into a home and one of them shot the homeowner in the leg.

That same homeowner then got into a fight with the other masked man before the homeowner’s son came out with a shotgun and shot the man in the head who was fighting his father, according to authorities.

Man charged in deadly shooting over dog poop plans insanity defense
Facing 22 criminal counts, including first-degree murder, Michael R. Close will undergo a court-ordered health examination to determine his mental state

A Denver man charged with fatally shooting a woman and wounding her boyfriend during a confrontation over dog poop has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Michael R. Close, 37, entered the plea virtually from jail during Monday’s court appearance on charges that he fatally shot Isabella Thomas, 21, with an AK-47 and wounded her boyfriend, Darian Simon, 27, outside his apartment in the city’s Ballpark section on June 10, the Denver Post reported.

Police have said Close took the rifle from a Denver police officer who was his friend and used the sergeant’s personal gun without his knowledge, the newspaper reported.

Investigators said in November at a preliminary court hearing that Close squeezed off 24 shots at the couple from a semi-automatic rifle as they walked their dog. Close yelled at Thomas and Simon after their dog defecated in a rock garden outside his apartment, a homicide investigator testified.

"Are you going to train that f–king dog or just yell at it?" Close said, according to Denver police homicide investigator Joseph Trujillo.

Close then allegedly opened fire, killing Thomas and wounding Simon in the leg and buttocks. He fled in his car following the shooting and was arrested later that day in Jefferson County during a traffic stop, the Denver Post reported.
