BCSO: Off-duty deputy shot after confronting teen car burglar
Deputy is in stable condition, teen in custody, BCSO says
SAN ANTONIO - A deputy was shot after confronting a 16-year-old boy who was trying to steal his personal vehicle from his South Side home, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.
Around 7:26 a.m. Saturday, authorities went to a home in the 300 block of Bustillos Drive for a shooting.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said the deputy, 34, was at his home, off-duty at the time when a relative notified him about seeing someone in his car and the brake light turning on.
When the deputy caught the teen in the act and tried to take him into custody, the teen pulled out a small-caliber handgun and shot the deputy in the abdomen.
Despite being shot, Salazar said the deputy managed to keep the teen at the scene until police arrived.
The deputy, an 11-year veteran with BCSO, was rushed to Brooke Army Medical Center where he is undergoing surgery and expected to be OK, Salazar said.
Salazar said this is not the teen's first run-in with the law, and that evidence found at the scene shows he might have been burglarizing vehicles in the area all night.

He was just about to turn his life around, no doubt.

If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

As Knapton made his way up to the front door, records say Greg Brown armed himself with a Glock 19 handgun, which he told police he purchased recently due to ongoing issues with Knapton.
Greg Brown reportedly locked the door and told Knapton he had a gun. Knapton then kicked in the front door right as Greg Brown fired, the couple told police. Surveillance video reviewed by investigators showed Knapton was hit once in the chest through the door, before turning around and leaving down the same driveway.

Very, very close to my new house.
Mennonite lady saw the car parked behind a portable office building on some neighboring property that's currently empty and for sale and called the SO.
Deputy was basically "gutted" (he was holding his intestines when EMS arrived).
This is an extremely quiet, rural part of west Texas. The place where "nothing happens"... until it does.

The Gaines County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle behind a business Monday morning. According to the Nashville Tennessean, the vehicle belonged to victims of a Friday stabbing in Nashville.
The deputy found Peter Alexander Bohning, 34, who stabbed the officer in the chest. The deputy fatally shot Bohning, according to a statement from Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron. The deputy’s injuries are believed to be non life threatening.
"For a moment he felt good about this. A moment or two later he felt bad about feeling good about it. Then he felt good about feeling bad about feeling good about it and, satisfied, drove on into the night."

If after 39 rounds being fired you haven’t ended the threat, it might be time to get some training.
