Interesting video -- I did a search -- and found this statement by the local police chief's to a local public safety committee -- sounds like they acknowledge the trigger likely got caught on the officer's vest (with the safety off), which is what it looks like in the video. Scary stuff.

Comforting that this was 3 blocks from my office. Glad I was feeling lazy on Saturday and went to the range instead of the office.
Reminds me, I “almost” came across a shooting a few months back. I was heading south to the range and had go get gas at the first one I saw. Turns out it was completely taped off by MDPD who had +8 squad cars out there. I passed by about 15 to 20 minutes late. On my way back it was still taped off and there were a bunch of detectives around the place.

Post Man without gun license accidentally shoots himself in genitalia in Marion -2/28/2019

    https://fox59.com/2019/02/28/man-wit...lia-in-marion/

MARION, Ind. – A man accidentally shot himself in his genitalia in Marion, according to the city’s police department.

Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey says officers came in contact with the 46-year-old man in the emergency room of Marion General Hospital shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday.

There, the man told officers that he was on a walkway near a Girl Scout cabin when the Hi Point 9mm handgun on his waistband (without a holster) began to slip. When the man reached down to adjust the gun, he says it discharged.

Police say the bullet entered just above the man’s penis and exited his scrotum.

According to police, the man doesn’t have a license to carry a handgun in the state and the case will be sent to the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Here’s an interesting case. Man shoots a guy, shooting is determined to be self-defense. Because of this, he is not charged with murder or manslaughter due to Florida’s application of its stand your ground law. However, he is charged with possession of a firearms by a convicted felon.

I didn't originally think this was a "bad shoot" but I didn't really think it was a good shoot either - something in between. But the DA's new report convinced me otherwise - this was suicide by cop.

Clark hadn't "turned his life around recently" - he'd beaten up his baby momma 2 days prior and she was pressing charges which would land him back in prison. Notwithstanding the break-ins, Clark was already a wanted man. Furthermore, his cell phone text messages and search history indicate he was suicidal and had procured enough xanax to do the job. He gave his ex the suicide or get back together ultimatum (texting her a photo of xanax in his hand), and she told him off. His toxicology showed a coctail of xanax, alcohol, coke, Marijuana, hydrocodone (sp?) etc.

With that in mind, his actions look like someone who refused to go to jail again and when cornered decided to force officers to shoot.

Dead guy was reasonably well-educated, with a legal gat and a CCW card. Just curious as to what went sideways, since the article is typically devoid of much info beyond the obvious.
That police officer (who had since been fired) has been convicted, now faces possible life sentence: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna980436

Another scare of having firearm, from your own family.
I wonder what punishment the kid gets. He's not even a teen.
