Auburn LEO stops a car driven by a robbery suspect.
Suspect shoots LEO five times and flees to an apartment with his female accomplice/driver/girlfriend.
Police arrive, exchange fire with suspect(s).
PD puts in tear gas which is probably what sets the apartment on fire.
Suspects don't come out, found dead in ruins; cop in hospital.
Officer must have had good vest, wounded around edges, or/and crook had a smallbore, wouldn't you think?
Autopsy of suspects to see if they were shot or burned to death.

GALLATIN COUNTY, Ky. — Days after a woman from Mansfield, Ohio was abducted by the father of her child and both were killed after a high-speed chase ended in gunfire in Oldham County, Kentucky, the man who called 911 to help her has spoken out. He said he is still reflecting on how he reacted at a gas station in Gallatin County, where he was just stopping for coffee, and wonders if he could've done something differently. "I'll remember that name for probably the rest of my life," Todd Simpson said. Simpson is talking about Skylar Williams, a woman he saw walk into the gas station Monday, holding hands with Ty'rell Pounds. "When they walked in, that girl, Skylar Williams, looked me right in the face and said 'Help me.' I mean, she didn't say it out loud, she just, you know, mouthed it, 'Help me,'" Simpson said. He said he walked outside to get help. "I grabbed my gun and my phone, called 911. I told them what happened. I said, 'I need a police officer here now,'" Simpson said. While on the line with 911, Pounds and Williams came outside, according to Simpson. He said he told Pounds to stop. Simpson said the pair got into a dark-colored Dodge Caravan we've learned was a stolen rental with Quebec tags, and Pounds sped off onto southbound I-71. Then, a chase ensued into Oldham County, with Kentucky State Police and other agencies eventually stopping the van with a PIT maneuver at the Crestwood entrance ramp. KSP said Pounds was wearing a bulletproof vest and was armed. They also said he shot Williams, who was pronounced dead at the University of Louisville Hospital. A Kentucky State trooper shot and killed Pounds.

Looking like the suspect shot and killed the female and himself.

"For a moment he felt good about this. A moment or two later he felt bad about feeling good about it. Then he felt good about feeling bad about feeling good about it and, satisfied, drove on into the night."

https://www.mcall.com/news/breaking/...218-story.htmlAntonio Santiago, fresh off work, had just parked his car on Turner Street in Allentown on Saturday and was off to visit a friend when he was set upon by two masked men who sprayed him with pepper spray, struck him with a gun and demanded money, authorities said.
The 36-year-old Allentown man told the robbers to hold on while he looked for the money. Instead, authorities said, he grabbed his licensed 9mm handgun and fired a single shot at the men, identified as Andrew Eberts, 32, of no known address, and Shane Gesnaker, 30, of the Bucks County borough of Dublin.
The bullet hit Gesnaker, who fled but fell, fatally wounded, about 50 feet away.
In a statement Monday, Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin said Santiago, who had a carry permit, was justified in using deadly force in the encounter.
Comforting that this was 3 blocks from my office. Glad I was feeling lazy on Saturday and went to the range instead of the office.
