Fairness leads to extinction much faster than harsh parameters.
It will be interesting how this plays out.
I have seen other articles state the guy was SAS. Maybe just the incompetence of the media or maybe the Crown trying to lay down some cover.
Hard for me to believe that your typical retired Royal Marine Expat living in Kenya would be given a permit to carry a pistol. Then again, he might have been a realist and did it regardless.
Either way, a perfect example how one guy on the scene with a pistol can save more people that 1000 guys 20 minutes way with machine guns.
I'm sure the MSM will either cover this up or spin it.
Kenyan president claiming it is over: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...washingtonpost
NAIROBI — Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday night declared that the four-day-long siege of an upscale mall in the capital by Islamist militants has ended with the deaths of five militants and 11 in custody. He announced three days of mourning for the more than 60 people killed in the attack, a death toll that is expected to rise with the recovery of more bodies from the mall, he said.

Good Job Kenyan Authorities.....and any "Compartmentalized Advisors" which may or may not have been there.
Edit:just left my buddys home.He grew up in Kenya before his family changed posts-his dad worked for the State Department. He got in touch with his friends back in Nairobi ,and according to him the situation started because the local Al Shababb sect was pissed the Kenyan government was helping the US interdict their activities in Somalia .The mall attack ,it would seem, was a combined retaliation against pro-US interests and the Kenyan government. It doesn't help that the mall is owned by an Isreali.
As to the gun laws, as I understand it the reality on the ground in Kenya is if you know the right people in the police who can vouch for you, you can carry.Hopefully this background info sheds some light ,since we cannot rely on the media to get the entire story straight sometimes.

A snippet of Aaron Alexis entering the building. Obviously, it's very edited-only 30 seconds long.
