I think I mentioned here previously that I had a local LEO enter my house for a burglar alarm call only to find out (after he left and double checked the address) that he was at the wrong house. Same house number, same neighborhood, different street. My wife still has trouble locking the door to the yard (don't get me started) and every time I read a similar story I shiver thinking about having a gun in my hand with a LEO downstairs thinking he was on a burglary call.
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." - Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776
Insanity and far worse than carelessness.
Reminder to never expose self to view from front door if someone knocks (no one ever does) and to strongly consider upgrading HD long gun from 9mm/556 Carbine to .308 for occasions when someone wants to shoot at you through the door/house and you want to return effective fire.
PS> Benelli M2 slug gun seems even more attractive.

Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Doodie Project?

Fun times in Chicago. Just because you point a gun at someone doesn't mean they'll be impressed and help can be a long time coming.
That is the craziest thing I have ever seen. I have to think the off duty cop shot himself dry in the first or he would have pulled the trigger a lot more.
There's only one way to impress on officers that similar behavior is unacceptable -- criminal convictions. Prosecutors are less likely to prosecute officers than non-officers for similar conduct. Juries (at least in the types of areas I have lived and practiced) are less likely to convict officers.
