Off-duty DPS trooper shot during attempted home invasion
KIRBY - Scared and concerned. That's how many people living in Kirby feel after a DPS trooper was shot at his home.
It happened just before midnight Thursday on a street called Tom Stafford.
The off-duty trooper, whose name is not being released, claimed he was attacked by a man in his backyard.
He says the man was trying to force his way inside. During a struggle, the trooper's gun went off. A bullet hit the trooper in a protective vest he was wearing.
The suspect, according to the trooper, then ran away.
At last check, the 42-year-old trooper was being evaluated at San Antonio Military Medical Center. He's expected to fully recover.

Nearby police precincts have been my choice location to conduct transactions arranged online for a while now. My thought being is typically anyone with nefarious intentions flakes out at the idea of voluntarily going anywhere near the po-leese.Originally Posted by WeepingAngel
