No charges for officer, FBI agent who killed man believed to be targeting police

Prosecutors will not seek criminal charges against a Boston officer and an FBI agent who fatally shot a man last year who they believed was plotting an attack against police, authorities announced on Wednesday.

"The use of deadly force was a lawful exercise of self-defense," Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said at a press conference.

Usaamah Rahim, 26, was fatally shot June 2, 2015, in the city's Roslindale neighborhood. Rahim had been under 24-hour surveillance for several months as part of an investigation into his ties with ISIS, including a plot with two co-conspirators to behead a political activist in New York City, according to authorities.

The morning of the shooting, a recorded phone conversation revealed that Rahim had abandoned his plans to travel to New York and was instead planning to attack officers in Boston, Conley said.

"It was clear from this recorded conversation that Mr. Rahim did not expect to survive this attack," he said.

Terror investigators approached Rahim at a bus stop, at which point Rahim drew a large, military-style knife from a sheath, Conley said.
Rahim was shot three times and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

SAPD: Good Samaritan shot stopping to check on couple in heated argument

SAN ANTONIO -- A Good Samaritan was shot when he drove up to check on a couple amidst a heated argument, police said.

Police went out to a scene around 11:30 a.m. Thursday after dispatch received multiple calls of shots fired. According to the police, when they arrived on the scene no victim or shooter was present. Shell casings were found on the scene as well as witnesses to the incident.

A man returned to the scene with multiple gunshot wounds to the arm. The victim told police that he witnessed a Hispanic male and a female in a heated argument in the parking lot of a restaurant. According to the victim, he and a passenger pulled up to the two individuals to check on them. The Hispanic male pulled out a gun and fired several rounds at the victim's vehicle, said police.

I really wonder if he got it legally (probably not) but it looks like an MPAP AK pistol.

Interesting, how the other guy didn't draw but fell to the ground right away and then drew after he wasn't shot instantly. Like he was waiting to die.
You sure he wasn't just imitating a Magpul Dynamics video?

The children of an Arizona gun instructor accidentally killed by a 9-year-old firing an Uzi at a gun range are filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the business's owners.
Tragic but the instructor did give the little girl the gun to shoot and stand by her. Maybe going for an insurance settlement?

That's what it looked like to me. His left hand was out in a supplication gesture trying to beg for mercy while his right hand fumbled at his waistband to get the pistol out, then as soon as he did that, he was running and gunning. Draco guy goat-fucked his OODA loop, but then let pistol guy recover the initiative.

Air Force Tech Sgt. John Chapman was left for dead during an Afghan mountaintop firefight in 2002. Now, more than 14 years after that brutal fight, in which seven Americans ultimately died, the Air Force says that Slabinski was wrong – and that Chapman not only was alive, but also fought on alone for more than an hour after the SEALs had retreated. The Air Force secretary is pushing for a Medal of Honor, the military’s highest award, after new technology used in an examination of videos from aircraft flying overhead helped officials conclude that the sergeant had killed two fighters with al-Qaida – one in hand-to-hand combat – before dying in an attempt to protect arriving reinforcements.

From the "what swims in the sea with us" files:

Inmate says missing teen was gang-raped, shot, fed to alligators

A teenager who vanished from Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2009 was repeatedly raped in a gang “stash house” for several days — then she was shot dead and fed to alligators when her disappearance generated too much media attention, the FBI said last week.

The shocking new details about the mysterious disappearance of 17-year-old Rochester, NY, native Brittanee Drexel came largely from a “jailhouse confession” that was subsequently substantiated by others with “tidbits” and “secondhand information,” FBI Agent Gerrick Munoz testified in a federal court transcript obtained by the Post and Courier of Charleston.
Brown claimed to have seen Drexel when he visited a “stash house” — typically a place used to keep guns, drugs or money — in the McClellanville area, the general location where Drexel’s cellphone last pinged.

In 2010, Myrissa Drexel falls into her father Chad Drexel’s arms at a vigil to commemorate a year since Brittanee Drexel was last seen in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.Photo: AP
Munoz said Brown told officials he saw Da’Shaun Taylor, then 16 years old, and several other men “sexually abusing Brittanee Drexel.” Brown then said he walked to the back yard of the house to give money to Taylor’s father, Shaun Taylor. But as Brown and Shaun Taylor talked, Drexel tried to make a break for it. Her escape attempt was in vain, however, and one of the captors “pistol-whipped” Drexel and carried her back inside the house. Brown said he then heard two gunshots. The next time Brown said he saw Drexel, her body was being wrapped up and removed from the house.

Drexel’s body has never been found, but Munoz said “several witnesses” have told investigators she was dumped in an unspecified McClellanville pond teeming with alligators.

Munoz said the FBI believes Taylor “showed her off, introduced her to some other friends that were there … they ended up tricking her out with some of their friends, offering her to them and getting a human trafficking situation.”
