A firearm they found at the scene, a 9mm Hi-Point, had had its serial number filed off, Belmar said, which might suggest it had been stolen. The weapon had five rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.

Homeowner kills suspect during attempted home invasion

Investigators say Carlisle and another man knocked on the door, then forced their way inside when a woman answered the door. Carlisle then put a gun to the woman’s neck.

The homeowner grabbed a handgun before going to investigate the commotion, and fired multiple shots at the men, hitting Carlisle.

Officials pronounced Carlisle dead at the scene.

Durham police officer targeted by gunman

If I had a son, he might look like a police officer.

A department spokesperson said Officer J.T. West was sitting in his marked patrol car working on a report when he saw two suspicious men coming up from behind his car near an abandoned apartment building.

West got out of his car to speak to the men, but before he could say a word, one of them pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired six shots at the officer.

Something to keep in mind. 14 year old shoots & kills home invader and is now the victim of what appears to be a revenge shooting.

There was more violence at the home where a 14-year-old boy shot and killed a suspect intruder last week.

Someone drove up to the home and fired shots into the window Tuesday night. Police will not say if they have any suspects in this latest shooting, but reporter Trish Williford saw officers outside the home for much of Wednesday morning.

George Wyant, the homeowner, showed Channel 9 the shotgun hole in the window of his sunroom where his 74-year-old wife was sound asleep...

Wyant said police told him someone pulled their car off of Highway 218, walked right up to the back of the home and opened fire.

Wyant believes this shooting may have been in retaliation for the deadly shooting at his home that happened just over a week ago.
