Whole lotta WTF for me on a personal level.
This store is just a few blocks from my in-laws residence and is a really nice store (one of our frequent shopping stops), the c-store/gas station is also one I routinely use and I've even spent more time than I want at the damn hospital E-room entrance recently.
So this whole story was eerie.

“Baker said he was suffering from Covid 19 related symptoms,” the warrant said. “Baker said he drove to Market Street because it was near Covenant. Robert Baker said he did not know the victim or have any bad feelings toward Market Street.”

“Baker said he fired several rounds at an individual who had just unloaded his groceries,” the warrant said. “Baker admitted to shooting several rounds at the convenience store area of Market Street.”

“[Baker] admitted to firing several rounds into his vehicle at the Entrance to Covenant.”

Is this anyone's AO? I'd be interested to know how long the perps stuck around once they realized they were gonna have to have a gunfight to continue with their plan. Unfortunate turn of events for the good guy.

Customer shoots axe-wielding man in Lowe’s parking lot
    https://www.koin.com/local/clark-cou...s-parking-lot/

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 48-year-old man whose car was attacked in the parking lot of a Lowe’s in Vancouver by a man wielding an axe handle pulled out a gun and shot the 22-year-old, police said Monday.

The incident unfolded Friday in the parking lot at 18801 SE Mill Plain Boulevard. Aaron Dreyer called 911 to report he shot the man in the parking lot, police said.

Investigators provided this sequence of events:

As Dreyer was getting ready to leave, he noticed a man running out of the emergency door of the Lowe’s carrying merchandise, heading toward a waiting car that had a woman in the driver’s seat. Dreyer drove closer to that car to get license plate information when the man — later identified as Kenneth Nigg — moved toward and began attacking Dreyer’s car with an axe handle.

As Dreyer got out of his car, Nigg — who still had the axe handle — moved toward Dreyer. That’s when, investigators said, Dreyer pulled out a gun and shot Nigg. He then called 911 and gave Nigg aid until first responders arrived.

    Nigg remains in the hospital.

The case remains under investigation by the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit.

TUSCUMBIA, Ala. — A robbery suspect was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital Monday after being shot at a Tuscumbia gas station, police said.

Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan said the robbery happened at the Fuel City on Highway 72 around 11 a.m. A clerk shot the suspect as he was trying to get away, Logan said.

The clerk, Miranda Mullins, told News 19 she was suspicious of the man when he came into the store because he had his hood up and was wearing sunglasses.

Mullins said the man demanded money at gunpoint. As he was leaving, Mullins said she pulled a gun from under the counter and shot him in the shoulder.

The suspect got into a vehicle with a woman, who drove off and then was involved in a wreck at Avalon and Montgomery avenues, near Helen Keller Hospital, Chief Logan said. The woman was not injured in the crash, he said.

The suspect was airlifted from Helen Keller to Huntsville Hospital. His condition was not immediately available Monday afternoon.

Mullins continued working her shift after the incident.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that the suspect is connected to other armed robberies across the Shoals.

Around here we don't get all upset if the robber gets shot going out with the day's receipts and we don't let it interrupt business operations.

Shooting spree NV and maybe AZ

1 person killed, 4 others injured in shooting spree in Henderson

One person was killed and four others were injured on Thursday in a random shooting in Henderson, and authorities are trying to determine if the attack was related to a series of drive-by shootings that occurred hours later in Arizona.

Henderson police said the Arizona Department of Public Safety arrested suspects in the Henderson shooting on unrelated charges near Parker, Arizona, and Arizona authorities said they were investigating a string of shootings there.

Shots were fired during the suspects’ arrests. One suspect was airlifted to a hospital, La Paz County, Arizona, Sheriff William Risen said in an e-mail to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
    ...

“Both suspects were described as having tattoos or paint on their faces,” police said in a statement. “Preliminarily it is believed that the suspects were driving around the city randomly shooting at citizens with no apparent motive.”

Suspect in critical condition after argument with ex-wife at Thanksgiving gathering leads to shooting, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man is in critical condition after an argument with his ex-wife during an outdoor Thanksgiving gathering escalated into a shooting on the city’s South Side, San Antonio police say.

Police said the ex-husband went to a home in the 700 block of Brunswick Boulevard, just east of I-35, around 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, the ex-husband was upset because his ex-wife had a new lover, so he was going to confront the woman and her new lover.

The man got into an argument with one of the family members and then shot toward the home, hitting the ex-wife in the hand and her aunt in the buttocks, police said.

Another person at the home had a firearm and returned fire at the suspect, hitting him in the stomach and chest area.

The suspect then took himself to Downtown Baptist for treatment, but he was transported to the Brooke Army Medical Center, where he is in critical condition.

Emergency medical services personnel treated the ex-wife at the scene, and her aunt was taken to BAMC.

The suspect faces two or three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Police said the person who shot the suspect acted in self-defense and is not expected to face any charges.

The shooting happened in the city's Granada Hills neighborhood

A Los Angeles police probe got underway Saturday night after an investigator with the L.A. County district attorney’s office -- who was working security for DA Jackie Lacey -- fired at suspects who allegedly tried to carjack the security team.

The car was one of two security vehicles parked outside Lacey's home, according to FOX 11.

Toddler shot as Ontario police confront dad accused of kidnapping
An officer was seriously injured during the investigation

A 1-year-old boy was killed Thursday after Canada's Ontario Provincial Police opened fire on a vehicle driven by his father, who had been accused of kidnapping the toddler.

The man was shot by police but reportedly survived, according to VICE News.

The 33-year-old father was "airlifted to the hospital in grave condition," the province's Special Investigative Unit wrote in a statement. "Inside the pickup truck was a 1-year-old boy. He had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Authorities didn't identify either the boy or his father. The suspect's truck had crashed into a police cruiser, striking an officer who was outside the car while police were investigating the abduction. Officers had been summoned on a complaint of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm about 8:45 a.m.

Kawartha Lakes Mayor Andy Letham told the National Post that his community is in "disbelief" and that the work of the OPP is greatly appreciated.

HPD: Man shoots ex’s father on Thursday, then shoots him again early Sunday

Houston police said the father was initially shot in the ankle on Thursday and early Sunday, he was shot in the chest.

HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating after a man was shot in the chest early Sunday morning during a drive-by shooting on the city's north side.
Police said the man, who was only described as being in his 40s, was sleeping in the bedroom of his home in the 5000 block of Werner Street when he was woken up by gunshots.

One of the bullets struck him in the chest.
Paramedics were called to the home and took the man to a nearby hospital. Police said he is expected to survive.
According to investigators, preliminary information points to the gunman being the man's daughter's ex-boyfriend.
Investigators said the daughter told them she was followed by her ex-boyfriend earlier in the day and just a few days ago, the ex-boyfriend allegedly shot her dad in the ankle.
At this time, no suspects are in custody.
