1 killed, 2 wounded in I-190 shooting of Buffalo Sewer Authority workers

Three Buffalo Sewer Authority workers were driving back to the office from a job about 11:11 a.m. Thursday.

Southbound on Interstate-190, they had just passed Exit 9 – the Porter Avenue exit – when someone from another vehicle opened fire on them.

All three were hit, including one employee who was killed. Two others, including the driver, were taken to Erie County Medical Center, one seriously wounded and the other with non-life threatening injuries.

Woman shot by NISD officer after ‘becoming aggressive’ at Dub Farris Athletic Complex, officials say
“At no time were any students or adults at the event in danger,” an NISD spokesperson said

SAN ANTONIO – A woman was shot in the arm by a Northside ISD officer after becoming aggressive and driving her vehicle toward him in a “threatening manner,” school district officials said.
The shooting occurred at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Dub Farris Athletic Complex, just before a football matchup between Sotomayor and O’Connor.

According to Barry Perez, NISD assistant superintendent of communications, a woman was acting aggressively while in her parked vehicle outside the stadium.
Her behavior caught the attention of nearby NISD officers, who were directing traffic flow before the 2 p.m. football game.

The woman became “aggressive and belligerent” toward one of the officers and drove toward him “in a threatening manner,” Perez said in a statement.

The officer then drew his weapon and shot the woman once in the arm, Perez said. She was taken by EMS to the hospital and her injury was non-life-threatening.

“At no time were any students or adults at the event in danger,” Perez said in a statement.

Perez said the officer who shot the woman has been placed on administrative duty pending further investigation.
His identity hasn’t been released, but NISD officials said he’s served with the police department for three years and nine months.
San Antonio police will be handling the investigation. We’ll bring more updates as they become available.

It's beginning to look a lot like "Clockwork Orange."

Burglary suspect accidentally shot himself while fleeing scene, SAPD says
Incident happened in the 3700 block of Newrock Drive

SAN ANTONIO – An 18-year-old burglary suspect accidentally shot himself while fleeing the scene of a crime, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of Newrock Drive, not far from Colony Drive and Interstate 10 on the North Side.

Police said it appears the suspect burglarized a vehicle, and while fleeing, he possibly shot himself in the leg on accident.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK, police said.

    The shooting is under investigation.

Gee, two shootings right near where we used to live. Despite our gun laws, our small town in the evil NYS has some appeal. We had a teen party shootout right on our street before we moved.

Anyone post this? It's really nuts:

What would drive someone to do this? Don't tell me I'm a psychologist. The guy must have been impaired, psychologically unstable. Investigations will probably come up with a history.

Yeah, that makes no sense to me. Why disagree about where/whether to divert for a medical? Was the FO worried about missing his commute home?

Off-duty US Park Police officer charged in fatal shooting of colleague: Officials
The officer charged in the shooting allegedly thought the gun was not loaded.

An off-duty U.S. Park Police officer was arrested Sunday and charged with fatally shooting a colleague inside a McLean, Virginia, apartment while allegedly handling a gun he thought was unloaded during an alcohol-fueled get-together, authorities said.

U.S. Park Police officer Alexander Roy was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the killing of fellow U.S. Park Police officer Jesse Brown Hernandez, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The shooting unfolded about 12:20 a.m. local time on Sunday when the 25-year-old Roy was playing around with a gun he assumed was empty, hitting the 22-year-old Hernandez in the upper body, officials said.

Roy unintentionally shot the firearm he believed to be unloaded, fatally striking Hernandez," the Fairfax County Police Department said in a statement. "Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the shooting."

At the time of the shooting, three of the four individuals inside the apartment were off-duty U.S. Park Police officers, officials said.

Fairfax County officers went to the apartment after receiving a 911 call reporting an adult male had been unintentionally shot, officials said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Roy was allegedly "dry firing" the weapon, or attempting to simulate the discharge of a firearm by pulling the trigger of the gun he thought was unloaded, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

After consulting with prosecutors, Roy was charged with Involuntary manslaughter. He was being held without bond Sunday at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
