Another harsh, hard lesson in the four rules, alcohol use, and cerebral cortex development. Horrible. I have a student who is out for the semester over being party to this one.

Good on the citizen for helping the deputies.

WNCT needs to find some folks who can write and communicate properly in English.

    And an editor.
There's nothing civil about this war.

Not a shooting incident, but it doesn’t need its own thread and I bet some of the stolen guns were used in shootings. Lock your guns up people, and shame your friends if they keep a “car gun”.

More than 600 guns stolen from cars in Birmingham this year; police urge vigilance when it comes to locking up

The number of guns stolen during car break-ins in Birmingham is up from last year, and police are again reminding people to hide their valuables and lock their doors.

Though the crime category of unlawful breaking and entering of vehicles is down more than 15 percent over this time last year, there have still been more than 4,100 car break-ins in the city, according to Birmingham Police Department numbers.

As of Wednesday, 632 guns have been stolen in UBEV’s, which is up from 517 in all of 2021.

California police officer shoots self in hand, kills another man while cleaning personal gun, cops say
Santa Cruz officer Francisco Villicana was cleaning his personal gun when the weapon discharged, police said

An off-duty California police officer accidentally shot himself and killed a man while cleaning his gun last week, authorities said Wednesday.

Santa Cruz Police officer Francisco Villicana, 22, was cleaning his personal weapon at about 5:45 p.m. Friday when it discharged, the Salinas Police Department said.

He was shot in the hand. Another man, Luis Alfredo Ferro-Sanchez, 20, was shot in the upper body and was taken to a hospital where he later died.

While handling the firearm he accidentally discharged a single round striking himself in the hand, the bullet continued striking Ferro-Sanchez in the torso," the department said in a statement.

Authorities did not say how the two men knew each other. Investigators believe the incident was an accident but will refer the case to the Monterey County District Attorney's Office.

Villicana was the one who reported the incident to police, authorities said. He has been with the Santa Cruz Police Department since February 2022, and was placed on leave while the case is reviewed, Fox San Francisco reported.
