Uniformed (Black) FedEx driver in Hertz van chased and shot at by two (White) men in Mississippi. Two bullets hit the van (and packages). 911 dispatch told the FedEx driver he'd been reported as a suspicious person and to come in the next morning to fill out a police report.

The father and son duo turned themselves in after a week on conspiracy assault & aggravated assault charges and posted $75,000 & $150,000 bail the next day.

Two Whatcom County Sheriff's Deputies were shot on Thursday. This is a pocket community in the hills that is a pretty long way out from any town, if I remember right (I used to live in that county).

Sounds like a local stepped in to help out. The suspect has been charged with attempted first degree murder, and both Deputies are hospitalized, one at Harborview.

    Here's the timeline:

    ▪ Young was at home having drinks at approximately 3 p.m., when a neighbor started to burn a garbage pile, causing smoke to fill Young’s house, which apparently enraged him. ▪ Young went outside to yell at the neighbor, who reportedly replied with an expletive, which further enraged him. ▪ Young went back in the house, retrieved a shotgun loaded with birdshot and fired a round in the air near the neighbor. ▪ Young went back into his house and had a beer. ▪ Shortly afterward, Young heard deputies yell “Sheriff,” looked outside and saw someone crouching by the neighbor’s garage and went outside. ▪ Two deputies by the neighbor’s garage yelled to young “Sheriff’s Office — drop the gun!” ▪ Young yelled at the deputies and then fired on them. ▪ The first deputy was hit in the head and dropped to the ground. ▪ The second deputy stepped forward and returned fire in an effort to protect the deputy who had already been shot. ▪ Young returned fire and struck the second deputy, who retreated to cover. ▪ An “unknown civilian” stepped forward and fired multiple rounds from a handgun at Young to protect the deputies.

Edited to add television link. Very high praise from the Bellingham Police for the armed civilian, who shot at the suspect, helped the Deputies to a garage and started first aid:

Also -- I recognize the name of one of the deputies, knew him when he was a high school athlete -- pretty awful.

Search underway for suspect accused of shooting at VIA officer during traffic stop, police say
The officer was uninjured in the exchange

AN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for a suspect accused of firing gunshots at a VIA Transit officer during a traffic stop near downtown overnight.
The incident happened around 11:12 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of E Maple.
Police said a black sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed and the officer decided to initiate a traffic stop.
As the officer was walking toward the vehicle, someone from inside opened fire and fired multiple gunshots toward the officer, according to SAPD.
The officer returned fire, but the vehicle then took off from the scene in an unknown direction.
Authorities said the officer was not injured in the exchange but did call for backup.
As police were investigating the incident, they were notified of someone who arrived at University Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers went to the hospital and interviewed the injured man, who was determined to have been involved in the shooting. It’s currently unknown if he was the shooter, police said.

As stupid as this incident is, it’s also a cautionary tale of the potential second and third order effects of de-policing.

The more you defund and demotivate police the less likely people will be to call them for help in questionable circumstances. Increasing the likelihood of idiots like these two acting on their own.

Texas girl, 9, dies after being accidentally shot by ATM robbery victim; man charged
7 children have been shot this year in the Houston area

HOUSTON – A man who had just been robbed at gunpoint at an ATM in southeast Houston opened fire in an attempt to stop his attacker but instead shot a 9-year-old girl in a truck driving nearby, police said. The girl later died at a hospital.

Arlene Alvarez had been on life support before she died on Tuesday, her father Armando Alvarez told reporters.

Alvarez said Arlene was sitting in the backseat of his truck and was wearing headphones when the shooting started Monday evening.

“When we were getting shot at the first time, and I told them ‘get down,' she was the only one who didn’t get down. She didn’t hear me," Alvarez said.

Tony Earls, 41, was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault, serious bodily injury, in the shooting, police announced. He was being held in the Harris County Jail on a $30,000 bond. Court records did not list an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Arlene's death was announced shortly after police said Earls had been charged. Dane Schiller, a spokesman for the Harris County District Attorney's Office, said prosecutors will look at possibly upgrading charges against Earls.

“Our hearts go out to the Alvarez family. We are going to review all the evidence, apply the law and determine what charges are appropriate," Schiller said.

Executive Assistant Police Chief Matt Slinkard on Monday night called the shooting “an unbelievably tragic event."

Arlene is the second 9-year-old girl to be shot in Houston within a week. Ashanti Grant remains hospitalized after being shot in the head during a road rage attack on Feb. 8.

On Monday, Earls and his wife were at the ATM at around 9:45 p.m. when another man walked up to their vehicle and robbed them at gunpoint, Slinkard said.

As the suspect fled on foot, Earls got out of his vehicle and opened fire, including at a pickup truck he thought the robbery suspect had climbed into, police said.

But the truck carrying a family of five was not involved and had been “simply driving” down a street near the ATM, Slinkard said.

“It just goes to show, anytime that there’s guns involved, the danger to innocent bystanders is extremely high,” Slinkard said.

Alvarez said he was driving his family to Arlene's favorite restaurant when the shooting happened. He said his instinct was to drive faster when he heard the shooting start, to get away from the scene.

“As soon as I speed up, what are you doing? You are already coming next to him. You’re going toward the guy shooting. So I guess when I speed up, he thought I was with that guy," Alvarez said.

Earls, who later called police to report the robbery, told authorities he did not know his gunfire had hit the truck.

Police were searching for the robbery suspect. They have not determined if that man returned fire or was shot.

Several children have been shot this year in the Houston area.

On Feb. 3, an 11-year-old boy was fatally shot as he walked from his apartment to his family’s car to get his coat. On Feb. 8, a 13-year-old was shot multiple times and injured outside a grocery store. On New Year’s Day, the 4-year-old niece of George Floyd was wounded when someone fired into her Houston apartment as she slept.

Earlier this month, Houston officials announced a $44 million plan to tackle rising violent crime in the nation’s fourth-largest city. Like other major cities across the U.S., Houston has seen an increase in violent crime in the last couple of years amid the pandemic.

Daughter gets stalked by nut who shows up with shotgun and shoots in the door. Gun jams, Dad tries to tackle. He's an ex-cop, nut returns, Dad shoots him.

All kinds of commentary on social media, guns, fame, blaming this one or that one. Lots of various nasty fall out. They are lucky they are not all dead.
