Violent and evil aren't necessarily, or even usually, crazy. Just because you wouldn't do it, or it doesn't fit the logic of your world, doesn't make it "crazy" in their world or "schema" as Dr. Aprill used to say.

People minimize evil as crazy because it makes them feel better about what swims in the sea with them and what people are really capable of.
If you are a felon who hates cops, doing a drive by on a cop car is both personally satisfying and a badge of honor among your peers whether you live, die, get caught, or get away.
