    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. —
The student who was shot Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Mount Tabor High School has succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, Winston-Salem Police Chief Catrina Thompson announced during a press conference.

Authorities believe shooter is believed to be a fellow student, and remains at large.
    My old stomping ground.

Did many an EMS standby for football games and a few minor injury calls at that very school.

We had a school shooting here earlier in the week, student on student, but victim was only injured. (But boy the local press is acting like it's Columbine )

Suspect in custody. Being a young punk, he is not identified in the news item.

I’m going to give an educated guess that this involved birdshot and this is why birdshot sucks for self defense. It’s also an example that fast follow up shots may be needed, even with a shotgun.

A 32-year-old man was jailed early Friday following a shooting that left three people injured in northern Jefferson County – including himself.

The victim grabbed a shotgun and when Swack raised his gun, Money said, the victim fired, striking Swack in the face. Swack then began randomly firing his pistol, striking the victim and a female who was also at the house.

Would-be car burglar shot in car by homeowner: ‘I will not go back to prison'
The suspect became 'aggressive' and was subsequently shot

A homeowner shot and killed a would-be car thief in Texas who refused to leave the premises and said he would "not go back to prison," according to authorities.

"As the male homeowner approached the vehicle, (he) ordered the … subject out at gunpoint," Specialist S. Squier with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said, according to KPRC. "He became aggressive, uncooperative. The suspect made the statement, ‘I will not go back to prison.'"

The incident unfolded at about 9 p.m. Thursday evening in Kingwood, when the homeowner was alerted to movement on his driveway. The homeowner then found the 23-year-old suspect sitting in his car.

The homeowner, who was armed, asked the suspect to leave the car, but the suspect became "aggressive," authorities said. The homeowner then fired twice at the suspect, who died.

Malibu machete attack against family costs dad an eye; 2 homeless suspects arrested
The primary suspect had pulled a knife on a sheriff's deputy back in April -- but liberal DA George Gascon's office filed only a misdemeanor charge, the county sheriff claims

A father of two lost an eye after he and his family were attacked last weekend by a homeless man with a machete on a beach in Malibu, an affluent city in Los Angeles County, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said.

The suspect, identified as Richard Franck, was charged this week with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, FOX 11 of Los Angeles reported.

Another homeless man who was with Franck during the alleged attack was charged with accessory to attempted murder, the Malibu Times reported. He was identified as Benjamin Mast.

The out-of-town visitors – three adults and two children -- were eating lunch last Sunday at Dan Blocker Beach in Malibu when the suspects approached them, claiming falsely that the family wasn't allowed to be there, reports said.

An argument ensued and Franck allegedly brandished his weapon and began attacking the father, cutting his face, an eye and his tongue, chest and one of his hands, according to FOX 11 and the Times.

Both suspects then chased the family to the parking lot, authorities said.

The father was taken to a hospital in stable condition, the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station reported.

The two suspects were arrested after briefly barricading themselves in a public restroom near the parking lot.

County Sheriff Alex Villanueva alleged in a tweet Thursday that Franck had threatened a sheriff’s deputy in April with a knife but was released four days after his arrest because the office of liberal L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon had filed only a misdemeanor charge.

Gascon has been under fire by crime victims and many in law enforcement for policies that they view as being soft on crime. The district attorney has countered that some criminal justice practices have treated suspects unfairly.

On Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 1:19p.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting at Northwest 10th Avenue and Northwest Davis Street. When they arrived, they did not locate any victims but found evidence of gunfire and a significant number of people in the area. It took a significant number of officers to secure the crime scene. Crews from the Portland Bureau of Transportation assisted officers with traffic control.

Officers soon after learned that three people had arrived at local hospitals with gunshot wounds. One adult female and 2 juvenile (teenage) males were treated for injuries that are non-life threatening. Officers confirmed the injured were connected to the Pearl District shooting.

Man running from shooter collapses, then gets run over by pickup truck
    Victim in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO – What sounds like back-to-back bad luck late Sunday night has left a man in critical condition at a San Antonio area hospital.
The man not only suffered a gunshot wound, but also was run over by a pickup truck as he tried to run away from the shooter.
Officers found him after 11 p.m., lying in the street on S. Pine near Utah Street.
Police believe the man had been shot at a different location and was running down the street, trying to get away, when he collapsed.
At some point later, a driver in a pickup came along and accidentally ran over him.
The driver remained at the scene and called for help, police said.
He told officers he didn’t see the man lying in the street until it was too late.
The victim, who is in his 30s, suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and was in critical condition when he was rushed to a hospital.
Police are still trying to figure out who shot him and why.
It does not appear the driver will face any charges for running over the man.
