A Texas corner store clerk shot and killed a robbery suspect Monday night who allegedly first fired at him after trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill, according to reports.
The Houston Police Department responded to calls about a robbery taking place at the Super Qwik Food Store off Fulton Street and Julia near the North Freeway around 10 p.m.
By the time officers arrived at the scene, a man had been shot and was transported to the hospital, where he later died. The man, who has not been identified by authorities, allegedly tried to use a counterfeit $20 to make a purchase, but the clerk told him he could not accept the bill, KTRK reported.
Police said the robbery suspect then made his way into the clerk’s secured area, pulled out a gun and fired at him at least once within close range, narrowly missing him.
The clerk then pulled out a gun of his own and fired at the man, striking him multiple times.
“He’s very fortunate to be alive right now. We’re thinking that the bullet that the robber or suspect fired was only a few inches away from him,” Horn said.
Horn said the clerk was not harmed in the incident. No charges have been brought against him.
The suspect had a criminal record and was released on parole for a similar alleged robbery incident that happened last summer, KHOU reported, citing police records.

Police Say Man Shot While Driving Through Group Of Protesters In Provo
https://ksltv.com/440537/two-arreste...test-shooting/PROVO, Utah – Demonstrations in downtown Provo on Monday boiled over into an incident that is now under investigation, police said.
Authorities responded to a report of shots fired when pro-police demonstrators arrived at a Black Lives Matter protest. At one point, protesters began to block an SUV at an intersection. The vehicle then revved its engine and drove forward. At the same time, two pops were heard.
Provo police on Tuesday confirmed the driver of the SUV had been shot by one of the people in the crowd.
“Several protesters began crowding around the vehicle,” said John Geyerman, Provo Police deputy chief. “The male protester ran toward the SUV on the passenger side, pointed a handgun at the driver, and shot one round through the window. The driver who was struck by the bullet accelerated, trying to leave the situation. The same protester ran after the vehicle and fired a second shot that went through the rear passenger window.”
Officials said the same man who allegedly fired the shots into the SUV also approached another vehicle and broke the window with a handgun.
The driver was taken to Utah Valley Hospital.
An enhanced video taken by KSL TV photographers of the scene appears to show a masked man raising his hands and pointing something that looks like a gun. The video also captured something that resembled a casing coming off the object the man pointed.
Two Arrested In Connection With Provo Protest Shooting
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Police said two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Provo during Monday night’s protests.
Jesse Taggart, 33, of Salt Lake City, and 27-year-old Samantha Darling, of Ogden, were arrested Tuesday, according to officials with the Provo Police Department.
Sgt. Nisha King with the Provo Police Department said Taggart was booked into the Utah County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted aggravated murder, aggravated assault, rioting, firing a weapon near a highway and criminal mischief.
Darling was booked on charges of obstruction of justice and rioting.
Police said a 60-year-old Provo man was shot and injured after a man allegedly fired a shot through the passenger window of his SUV Monday. He was in stable condition.
Police said protesters began to block the SUV, which was attempting to turn right from University Avenue onto Center Street, during Monday’s protests.
The suspect then raised what appeared to be a gun and fired through the car’s window, hitting the victim.
“Several protesters began crowding around the vehicle,” said John Geyerman, deputy chief with the Provo Police Department. “The male protester ran toward the SUV on the passenger side, pointed a handgun at the driver, and shot one round through the window. The driver, who was struck by the bullet, accelerated, trying to leave the situation. The same protester ran after the vehicle and fired a second shot that went through the rear passenger window.”

Suspect killed customer during third armed robbery
azfamily.com News Staff Updated Jul 3, 2020 | Posted on Jul 3, 2020SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (3TV/CBS 5) – Authorities in Scottsdale arrested a man in connection to a deadly shooting that happened early Friday morning at a convenience store.
The incident, which happened at about 2:40 a.m. at the Circle K near 81st Street and Indian School Road, just east of Hayden Road, left two men dead and a third wounded in the hospital.
Police say 38-year-old Robert Blackwater went into the Circle K and demanded money from the clerk. Blackwater fired a few rounds from his gun and the clerk was able to flee the business out the back door uninjured.
At the same time, two men pulled into the parking lot of the store. The passenger in the car, later identified as 35-year-old Joseph Toki, entered the store. The second man stayed in the car.
When Toki got into the doors he shot and killed by Blackwater, who was trying to leave. When he got outside, Blackwater noticed the man waiting in the car Toki had arrived in and began firing shots at him. That man was able to return fire from his own gun, hitting Blackwater. He died from his injuries.
Investigators determined that there was a second man waiting in a car for Blackwater when the robbery attempt occurred. Police say 32-year-old Bryan Christopher Lee Washington ran from the scene just after the shooting. He was arrested later in the day and is facing first degree murder and armed robbery charges.
Detectives say Blackwater had committed two other armed robberies earlier in the night. He hit the Circle K at the Loop 101 and Shea Boulevard at about 11:45 p.m., police said. The other robbery was at 2:15 a.m. at a Mesa Circle K. Police say Blackwater fired his gun in both incidents, but nobody was hurt.
The investigation is still underway.

Jessica Whitaker shot and killed.
According to the victim’s family, the shooting started with an argument over Black Lives Matter and language. Eventually the two sides separated and walked away from each other, until witnesses claim the killer opened fire from a nearby bridge and ran away.
“It was squashed and they went up the hill and left we thought, but they were sitting on St. Claire waiting for us to come under the bridge and that’s when she got shot,” said the victim’s fiancé Jose Ramirez.
Jose admits he returned fire, but didn’t hit anyone. He says Jessica Doty Whitaker leaves behind a little boy.
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.
