Magnetic personality? I'm also amused by the article's explanation of an MRI, "MRIs — magnetic resonance imagining machines"; it only "imagines" magnetic resonance?

I remember one where a little Bobcat in a hospital under construction was pulled through a wall when the MRI was turned on for a test, killing the operator. The Firemen had to go the basement to cut the power to the machine.

A couple of years ago I had an MRI for spinal stenosis. I cleared all the metal gadgetry. I put my shoes on the floor of the MRI room. Then he asked again to be sure and I remembered that my nice slip on moccasin style shoes had steel toes. Eek! They have gotten me beeped at the airport also. Now I'm pretty careful with them.

The MRI room is a sensitive locale ban I do support.

Do they not use a metal detector in the patient entrance to the MRI room? It seems like that would be an easy way to avoid problems.

It would be interesting to know what kind of firearm it was. We have had many drop safe conversations, however, have we ever had an MRI safe conversation?

Even if drop safe, do the AIWB fans want a big piece of metal in such a magnetic field near that which cannot be named?

MRI-Related Heating of Implants and Devices: A Review
Lukas Winter PhD, Frank Seifert PhD, Luca Zilberti PhD, Manuel Murbach PhD, Bernd Ittermann PhD

During an MRI scan, the radiofrequency field from the scanner's transmit coil, but also the switched gradient fields, induce currents in any conductive object in the bore. This makes any metallic medical implant an additional risk for an MRI patient, because those currents can heat up the surrounding tissues to dangerous levels. This is one of the reasons why implants are, until today, considered a contraindication for MRI; for example, by scanner manufacturers. Due to the increasing prevalence of medical implants in our aging societies, such general exclusion is no longer acceptable. Also, it should be no longer needed, because of a much-improved safety-assessment methodology, in particular in the field of numerical simulations. The present article reviews existing literature on implant-related heating effects in MRI. Concepts for risk assessment and quantification are presented and also some first attempts towards an active safety management and risk mitigation.

Not a shooting, but a good defensive use.

I hope the guy gets a little more firepower at least as back up. . . but good mindset.

Before more firepower, I’d say take a class. The way the gun is being held, not sure he would have made out as well if shots were exchanged. Glad no one innocent was hurt.
