Apparently the killer was indeed involved with the deceased and it was very, very personal...

Not sure when this happened because I don't recall hearing anything about it but the legal breakdown is interesting.

2 SAPD officers seriously injured after being shot during domestic disturbance call, chief says
Suspect is in custody after reportedly shooting officers, attempting to set house on fire

SAN ANTONIO – Two San Antonio police officers are hospitalized with serious injuries after being shot during a domestic dispute call, according to SAPD Chief William McManus.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday near the 1600 block of Amistad Pass on the Northeast Side.
Both of the officers who were shot were first to arrive at the scene, McManus said.

The suspect, a man, came to the house to retrieve his children and threatened to set it on fire, according to police.

An argument then broke out between the suspect and his wife, and he started to douse the home in gasoline, McManus said.

Both of the officers were standing in a cul-de-sac outside of the home as the suspect made his way upstairs to the second floor, armed with a long gun.

When one of the officers phoned for backup, the suspect shot him with a long gun through a window, McManus said. The officer collapsed from his injuries.

The second officer was shot once but was able to retreat and take cover behind a vehicle parked at a neighbor’s house, McManus said. He returned fire as more bullets rang out from the suspect.

More officers arrived, and they were able to get both of the injured officers to safety. McManus said that’s when the suspect came outside of the home and turned himself over to police.

“These types of calls are very, very volatile. They’re very dangerous because of the emotion involved,” McManus said. “The officers are very, very lucky that they weren’t killed.”

Both of the officers were taken to the hospital by ambulance and are currently undergoing surgery. Their conditions and their identities are unknown.

The suspect’s identity hasn’t been released yet, and it’s unknown what charges he will face.

Air Force police open fire on driver attempting to run gate of Texas base
The driver breached the gate at an 'excessive rate of speed'

Air Force police fired several shots Tuesday at a vehicle that sped through the main entry of a Texas base.

An unidentified driver sped in the direction of Air Force guards "at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction of traffic" at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis on Tuesday, speeding through the access control point and gaining access to the installation for several minutes before speeding back through the gate exit, according to a report from Military.com.

"Security forces pursued the driver and took defensive measures when the suspected gate runner attempted to exit the installation via the inbound lane traveling at an excessive rate of speed," Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis spokesperson Angela Casarez said of the incident, according to Military Times.

The driver reportedly was unable to reach any of the training areas located on the more than 27,000-acre base, and did not sustain any injuries from the shots fired by Air Force guards.

The San Antonio Police Department later arrested the suspect about nine miles from the base after he was involved in a separate incident, according to the report.

There were no reports of injuries to military personnel in the incidents.

Reached for comment by Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for Joint Base San Antonio confirmed that Air Force Security Forces "fired several shots in self-defense" when the subject drove toward them, but noted "no injuries to Air Force personnel, the subject, or damage to Air Force property was reported in relation to this incident" and that it remains under investigation.
Camp Bullis is an Army post but USAF security forces have been manning the gates there pursuant to the joint base concept.

The person of interest, Card, should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

As per law enforcement reports, Card served as a firearms instructor in the US Army Reserve. He recently disclosed mental health issues, citing experiences of auditory hallucinations including hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, according to a Maine law enforcement bulletin seen by the Associated Press.

He was also committed to a mental health facility for two weeks during the summer of 2023. According to a report by Macra, Card has a history of arrests for domestic violence and other crimes.
Will start a discussion of how he got the gun, mental health reports interacting with gun possession.
