Manchester, CT Gas Station shooting.
News story on the incident.
MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was shot following an attempted robbery incident at a gas station in Manchester early Thursday morning.
Just after 2 a.m., Manchester Police responded to a reported shooting at 427 Hartford Rd. and located a 54-year-old man on the ground in a Mobile gas station parking lot. The man, from Manchester, sustained a gunshot wound to the hip.
Police said officers provided medical aid and the victim was transported to Hartford Hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
The victim told police that while fueling his car, a dark-colored sedan pulled into the parking lot and a suspect emerged from the car with a firearm, demanding money. When the victim attempted to run away, the suspect shot him and fled in the sedan in an unknown direction, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
Thanks for the context.
That happened fast!
Yup. Sobering. No time for a lot of indicators there, other than "Why is this person backing up right next to me when they could have driven straight to any of the other pumps?"
I suspect the biggest lesson is to not be at gas stations at 2AM, and that anywhere can go from deserted to hostile very quickly.

Ark. corrections sergeant fatally shot while assisting cops
The sergeant was part of a K-9 team searching for a suspect, police said
Duty Death: Joshua Caudell - [Pulaski County, Arkansas]
End of Service: 02/28/2022
MAUMELLE, Ark. — An Arkansas Department of Correction sergeant was fatally shot Monday morning while assisting local law enforcement in central Arkansas, authorities said.
Sgt. Joshua Caudell of the Arkansas Dept. of Corrections was shot and killed while helping police search for a suspect on Feb. 28, 2021.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says deputies were responding to a residential disturbance at a home in Maumelle, just outside Little Rock. The Department of Correction sergeant was part of a K-9 team assisting the deputies.
Police believe someone fled from the home and the tracking dog led authorities to a nearby trailer.
The sheriff's office says a person opened fire on the officers from underneath the trailer. Lt. Cody Burk tells Little Rock TV station KTHV that the sergeant was struck and killed.
Authorities have surrounded the trailer but no one is in custody yet. Several nearby schools were locked down as a precaution.
This one hits home, the Sgt. was a friend of my son. They captured the scumbag today and he is on the news smiling and saying it was self defense.
Another shining example of our justice system….
