SAPD: Homeowner shoots intoxicated intruder who thought he was at a different home before forcing his way in

The alleged intruded is expected to be OK.

SAN ANTONIO — Police say a north-side homeowner shot and injured an "intoxicated" man who forced his way in through the back door, thinking he was at a different home down the street.

It's unknown if either individual will face charges after the incident, which happened shortly before 4 p.m. along the 8400 block of Republic Drive, near the intersection of Loop 410 and Highway 281. The alleged intruder, who hasn't been identified, was shot in the foot and is expected to be OK, according to officials with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

Police said they believe the back door was locked when the man was able to get into the home.

“My understanding is the homeowner gave him repeated commands to stop (and) get away, and the guy kept approaching him," an SAPD spokesperson said. "So he fired his weapon.”

That's nice, it was the Wal Mart I used to go to. It was a touch sketchy at times. Got hustled in the parking lot a bit. Usual BS disasters, give me money. Shooed them away.

DeLeon Springs Man Killed In Shooting

Volusia sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fatal shooting between neighbors in DeLeon Springs.

The shooting was reported around 7:13 p.m. at 1880 Alameda Drive. The initial investigation indicates the victim, a 42-year-old man, was trimming trees over his property line when his neighbor came outside and fired a shot that struck and killed him.

The shooter, a 78-year-old man, is being interviewed by detectives. The case remains active and charges are pending further investigation. Additional information will be provided in a future update.

Update (9/18/23): The shooter in this case, 78-year-old Edward S. Druzolowski (DOB 5/7/1945), has been taken into custody on a charge of second-degree murder. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail overnight and is being held without bond pending first appearance.

The victim, 42-year-old Brian J. Ford, was trimming tree limbs along the fence line between 1880 and 1890 Alameda Drive when Druzolowski confronted him about being on his property. Druzolowski told detectives he threatened to shoot Ford, and when Ford didn’t leave, he shot him.

The Sheriff’s Office received 2 911 calls reporting the incident around 7:13 p.m. The first two deputies on scene attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived, but Ford was pronounced deceased on scene.

According to the arrest affidavit, Druzolowski told deputies he was in his bedroom watching football when his wife told him that their neighbor – Ford -- was cutting branches off one of their trees. He initially brushed it off, but his wife reportedly came back a short time later and said their fence gate was open and that the neighbor was on their property.
My understanding is the guy unlocked their gate, went on their property, told the homeowner to "mind your business" when the homeowner came out to tell him to get off his property, then advanced on the homeowner and wouldn't stand down when the homeowner threatened him.

Ain't saying it's right, but...I understand. Not like your average 78 year old is in any shape to deal with an attacker of any kind.

If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

Seems inefficient to drive all that way. If he wanted to get shot breaking into a house, I imagine he could have done that right there in Ohio.
