I have a Sears and Robuck 20g bolt action gathering dust in the safe. It was an impulse buy, I gave something like $120 for it but I can't recall where I got it from. I used to have a clapped out J.C. Higgens 12ga.

I have one of those. It was my maternal grandfather's "squirrel gun".

I thought maybe I'd use it for something like that but I ended up with 4 bolt-action smooth bores and at least a dozen H&R/NEF singles in 12 and 20 so I'm getting rid of the bolts and going all singles or Mossberg pumps for the time being. Maybe when I plant some roots and build a vault I'll get back into collecting for collecting's sake but I don't have room for everything I've got.

Recently from a dealer I bought an unfired J.C.Higgins "Mossberg 500" that came with a slug barrel and regular modified barrel. My out the door price was $135. The 35 year old shotgun came with box and paperwork. I paid what the gun is worth.

Sears sold off the Craftsman brand to Black and Decker in 2017. They still honor the warranty, and I think ACE hardware is the most likely retailer to replace it.

We had a Sears 22LR semi-auto with a tube fed magazine and a 2x scope. IIRC it was made by Springfield. Put god knows how many rounds through that gun. The one gun safety rule Cooper didn't mention was not to shoot up all the 22LR so that when the old man went to blast a ground hog in the garden he didn't find the cupboard bare.

I have a Sears branded .22 semi-auto (really a High Standard) that was my grandfather's gun.

Well, my Revelation shotgun is still worth about $40 regardless of the chain that sold it (Western Auto) no longer existing, so I'm not so sure anyone's JC Higgins will explode in value.
