Taken ECQC once and it was an exceptional course. Everyone who is serious about responsible CCW should take it IMHO.
I see a thumb safety as an advantage; however, I would not compromise reliability, capacity or shoot ability just to net the thumb safety. In one of my 2 v 1 evos where I was the 1 I ended up with two guys ontop of me with a malfunction that I couldn’t clear with a TRB. I ended up dumping the mag, running the slide and tossing be gun, and remember thinking to myself that if I had a thumb safety I would have flicked it on, but that I would not have trusted it alone with the loaded gun unless that was my only option.
