I recall that mixed feeling of walking out the door, but then I recall waking up mornings with a smile on my face and actually saying out loud, "I'm not going to the PD today!"
That feeling and the fact they send me a check every month NOT to come to work helped lots. I've had a blast working two DoS contracts and then for Colt and now Aimpoint. I get to spend time with cops and help them out without putting up with PD bullshit. To steal one of Pat Rogers' best sayings: "Life is good!"
