If it'll bring @SouthNarc back more often, yes. Else...meh.
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.

Flawed poll, needs an additional choice, either "maybe" or "it depends"

Some incoherent thoughts, consider it market research, or stupid nonsense.

It depends on who the SME's would be? What could they contribute.
I'd feel like I was betraying SN or Cecil if they weren't on board.
I really enjoy the MMA/BJJ threads we have now and would follow a dedicated forum if done well.

Need no. But if one existed, I would post in it.

    Things like:

How to find a good boxing gym?

Finding training buddies for ECQC-level training.

I'm sure as my level of unarmed combative understanding increases, I might have more questions.

There's other forums where I can go, but I'm comfortable with the guys and gals here. Also I don't want to run the risk of arguing with an obese "10th dan" kung pao karate neckbeard telling me I don't need to incorporate gun grappling in my routine.

    I voted No.

    Because TPI - https://www.totalprotectioninteractive.com/forum/ - exists.

And while I'm not inclined to drive traffic away from P-F, in this case TPI already holds what is probably the most complete set of technical discussions of unarmed (and contact-weapon armed) combatives. Given that most of the questions asked here already exist in answer there - it is usually easier to direct someone to TPI for answers.

Man. I’m surprised at how much this one made me think. The defacto forum already exists at TPI, fersure. In addition to TPI hosting a stellar archive of conversation and information, there are a lot of interlocking members between here and there.

That said, this place gets more traffic, so a subforum on combatives here might have a wider reach. P-F already acts as a quasi-ambassador for training on the gunternet; the new subforum could be more of that.

I’d be curious as to how the idea strikes Craig, Cecil and PaulS, to name a few SME members that come to mind.

I’d dig it, personally. Might bring @BaiHu back for next year’s pfestluvfest, as a bonus.

That said, I’m loathe to see anything that in any way conflicts with TPI. Not that a subsection here necessarily would, but it’s worth thinking about.

I dunno... if Craig, Cecil and Paul are in, I’m way in too. Send SLG an invite too. Without our core SME members onboard, there’s not much point. JMO.

I feel the need to clarify that the last thing Tom and I want to do is siphon traffic away from TPI. A forum member here PM’d Tom and I about this idea, I agreed to put it out there for all. I have no strong feelings on the topic either way, I’d enjoy having the subject matter here too, but not at the expense of harming TPI. I’m also fine with every other thread on this subject being linked to the appropriate thread at TPI too.
