Tangent: The guy who wrote that song was a local boy. I rode sport motorcycles on the road to Lewiston (of CCI/Speer fame) that inspired the song and have seen the car.

I’m 6’ and could actually do interesting things comfortably with my future wife in that wiiiide back seat, and the trunk was absolutely cavernous. It was so big that it had red and green navigation lights, but sadly the uncle we bought it from cheaped out and didn’t order it with the de Sade trim package.
Had a ‘74 Mercury Marquis my last year of college.
This was in ‘80 and you couldn’t give a big gas guzzler car away.
Paid $600 for it and despite the 460 V8, had no power with all the smog crap on it and did no better than 13 MPG on the highway. Rode like a cloud though and my girlfriend (now my wife of 38 years) liked it.
I lived in the Fan District of Richmond then and once was trapped on the street with a car inches from each bumper.
Tried to locate owners but no luck.
Glad to have strong bumpers and a good transmission that day😈
