I don't think anyone has mentioned this site on PF before, any other fans?
The site covers the majority of hunting rifle calibers, the link below is the only profile up on a hangun caliber:
https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Kno...57+Magnum.html
He goes into great detail about factory loads and handloading for each caliber, from the perspective of hunting. The author is a hunter in New Zealand guide with a lot of experience seeing what bullets do to critters. He is serious enough to create his own .338/7mm wildcat, the 7mm Practical.
No gel tests, but plenty of gory pictures, the most notable showing what a Chinese tumbling FMJ loaded into a .22-250 does to medium game. The poor critter was basically instantaneously disemboweled in one shot!
There's also much on long range hunting on the site, including a nice looking set of books on the subject by the author.

I was glad to read that the 140 grain Barnes XPB worked well in his experience.
Even from shorter barrels, it expands and penetrates deeply.
Looks like a great .357 Magnum choice for hunting or wilderness defense.
