    Traded into a Bodyguard

I just traded a Gen3 Glock 21 I had sitting in the back of my safe that I never use for this little Model 49 Bodyguard. The folks at the dealer were confused by the transaction. The blueing is a little worn, but the bore looks like its never been fired and the action is super smooth. It also has the smooth "combat" trigger which I prefer. The previous owner said it was his deceased uncle's "carry gun." I doubt its ever been shot. I think I got the better half of the deal...

You did well. Love the Tyler T grip.
I had an M38 blue Bodyguard set up the exact same way as a BUG/pocket off duty gun in the ‘80s.
I would swap Austrian Tupperware for a decent M49 in a heartbeat.

I would make that trade any day!
I had a model 49 that was in a little worse shape finish wise. I had it parkerized and it was a great little gun. Life happened and it had to go. I should have parted with something else first............

Very nice trade. Good to see a real Bodyguard, and not a “reboot”.

Congrats. My Bodyguard gets to ride along from time to time.

My first snubnose was an M49. It had some road rash and I figured
it had been a cops ankle gun.

I put a set of Tylers on it, then went
to a Uncle Mike's boot grip. Then I gave it to my oldest son. He never uses it
and I wish I had it back.

In place of it I got an M38 and two M649s all without the lock and with boot grips.
Great carry revolvers and more accurate than people often claim they are.

That was my fear as well when I open d the thread. Thankfully, I was happily surprised. These are some of my favorite revolvers. I carried them extensively in the 80’s and I just have a very special place for them. They are great pocket guns as far as the shape. Enjoy it. Good catch.
Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

So much this! I don’t know how many Bodyguards I’ve owned over the years. It makes me sad that I don’t own one today. I still don’t know why S&W can’t bring themselves to release a no-lock version like they do with the 642.

An airweight model 38 is still my favorite J-frame ever. You made a killer trade!
