What are the advantages /disadvantage of the different guard lengths?

TheNewbie, I am a big fan of mid guards for everything as they don't interfere with my thumb when I draw yet still offer enough protection for the gun, however I always wear a t-shirt between me and the gun. Your mileage may vary. I always tell everyone unsure about the guard get the full as we can always trim the full guard down if you want less of a guard, but if you get a mid or no guard and want more of a guard, I cannot add material. Thanks
