Shot two rounds of Sporting Clays today at Garland Mountain in Waleska. I used to be a very active SC competitor but two careers, etc. got in the way plus the boat on the lake. Full retirement is within sight so I am headed back to SC. My wife and Boykin (RIP) enjoyed going around the course too. I was smoked today - 200 birds was too much first time back at it after years of laying off - I was smoked at the end. Rejoined Sporting Clays Association yesterday.

Zeroed / verified zeros on rifles with @JM Campbell in preparation for @Mr Pink upcoming TX carbine class.

    https://pistol-forum.com/showthread....-December-2020

Hodge with K6i in ADM QD amount. Took off the LPVO to zero the BUIS and it returned to zero /did not require adjustment. At least not at 50. We’ll see what happens when I get to a 200 yard range.

No photos of the BCM carbine, verified zero on the Aimpoint and zeroed the Griffin Armament BUIS. No direction markings on the adjustments and no instructions on Griffins website was annoying. KAC they are not. Need a SF warden for the SF muzzle break which is pinned and welded on the 14.5” BCM. The rifle itself performed well as always.

After rifles, we messed with pistol /RDS zeros and shot my newly acquired M&P CORE PC ported in 40 - needs a dot; just wanted a feel for the porting.

I put a Primary Arms red dot on my 1187 as I needed it’s Aimpoint elsewhere. I zeroed it today for next week’s deer season. Three rounds of Federal TruBall at 25 yards. I also had to adjust the sights on my 629 and I put a few magazines through my off-duty M&P40 2.0 C.

Took out the Mark IV 22/45 Lite to practice SPEED. Had a lot of fun and shot 500 rounds of CCI Blazer 36 grain LRN.

Very consistent but I did have two failures to fire. Both went off the second time I tried them.

While my Black Mamba is out of service this gun will take it's place. On an 8 inch Shoot-N-See target I was able to keep all in the black at 25 yards. I want to cut my times for Steel Challenge Matches and if I can remember what I was doing today I should have a lot of luck.

I think It’s good for 2/3 of that group size.

I wasn’t at my best, sun in my eyes, less than ideal prone rest, marginal ammo, being lazy etc

Had several groups of 2 touching, one an inch out.

Finally got a chance to take my Ruger Standard RST 6 (A-54 frame) to the range after replacing the extractor and extractor plunger. 300 rounds of Norma USA Tac-22, 40 gr LRN in Mk II 10-round magazines. It ran flawlessly for the first time in months.

I shot my Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite today. When I got home I received my frame for my Black Mamba back from Ruger. I broke a part inside when trying to put the magazine release back in.

When I sent the frame back to Ruger it was completely empty. Just a bare frame. Today I received a new one with all the internal parts at no charge. Now that's great customer service.

Tomorrow I will take all the parts out and replace them with my Volquartsen Accurizing Kit. Trigger pull was just over 4.5 pounds and the VQ kit will give me under 2 pounds which I find perfect for shooting Steel Challenge Matches.

Finally took out my M1 and the 11-87. The M1 has be rechambered for .308 and it's very soft shooting. I haven't shot one in .30-06 yet so I don't know how they compare but it's very nice. But the national match sights have got to go.

The Urbino stock take a lot of the punch out of the 11-87, world of difference. The factory stock beat the crap out of me but the limbsaver on the Urbino doesn't hurt at all. I had burned through a couple dozen rounds of 00 buck, including some 3" 15 pellet when the extractor decided to nope right the F out of my gun and that cut my range session short.

Quick range trip. Finally got a SF Warden for my pin and weld 14.5” BCM, wanted to make sure it didn’t effect the zero.

Also checked zero on my old school M&P 15. Aimpoint 4 MOA Comp M2 in an ARMS amount, Troy VTAC rail and VTAC sling. It was the hit ticket back in 2008.

The Wilson grip module seems to address the issue I had with the X grip and unintentionally activating the slide release, however the rear of the grip has a “fin” like shape similar to what Boresight solutions does with Glocks. It’s good, however it has required some adjustment in thumb position when shooting SHO/WHO.
