Recently purchased a Smith & Wesson 3.1" bbl Shield "Plus" Optic Ready pistol.

I live near Apex Tactical in Phoenix, AZ and dropped by their place (with an appointment) and they installed one of their triggers in it in about 10 minutes.

I then purchased and installed a Shield RMSc 4 MOA optic on it.

Prior to installation of the Apex trigger, pull weight was a slightly spongy 4 lb. 13 oz. Now it is a much cleaner, crisper break at 4 lb. 1 oz.

I bore sighted the pistol in my RV garage at a measured 15 yards using my Wheeler Engineering laser bore sighter.

Took it to the range this morning for its maiden voyage.

Shooting at the head box of an IDPA target at a measured 15 yards, I shot 5 shots each of:
    Aguila 124 gr. FMJ
    Remington 124 gr. BJHP
    Speer 124 gr. JHP

Shooting done from standing unsupported, slowly, and deliberately.

All 15 rounds went into the the "Down 0" area of the head box and the group was well-centered. Zero adjustments made to the optic.

Initial impressions of the pistol, trigger, optic, and laser bore sighter are quite positive.

Shot an additional 80 rounds of the above mentioned FMJ factory ammo and some of my handloads of Montana Gold 124 gr. JHP bullets over 4.1 grains of Titegroup in various drills from a JMCK Wing Claw 2.5 AIWB holster, including some SH and WH unsupported shooting. Also used both 10-round and 13-round S&W OEM magazines. Experienced zero malfunctions with the pistol, ammo, or optic.

This is a nifty little pistol/optic/holster setup! Looking forward to how it fares with more time and use.

First IDPA match I have shot in nearly a year. it was a small turn out and a bit of a hose fest, but it was still pretty fun. I struggled to remember the rules and a bit with retention reloads.
Also decided to shoot my LTT92 (in ESP for some reason) which took some getting use to again. Nice as the LTT is, it does not handle as well as a 2011 or even a shadow 2.
It was 3 stages in before I felt like I was in tune with the gun....until stage 5. I was late to the pit and first to shoot, there were 3 hidden targets that I never knew existed.

My worked over by the Colt Custom Shop, series 80 1911 in 45ACP, and a Colt Night Cobra.

Sadly it was 30f and both wet and windy and really not pleasant in any way to shoot. And, I found I couldn't hit crap with the revolver. I mean at all. Setting my target stand up with a bunch of glued on 3x5 cards at 35 feet, I was chewing baseball-sized holes pretty easily in the cards with the 45...switched to the revolver for some slow fire and it looked like a blind guy with poor trigger control was behind the trigger. 18 rounds later, I succeeded in never hitting what I was aiming at.

I switched to a not pictured Smith Model 19 I had stashed in my range bag for "just in case", and was immediately rewarded with 5 shots on the 3x5 I was aiming at, and the 6th was a little high and just creased the edge of the card. So...maybe I can't shoot a snubbie with hard G10 grips at all? Or maybe there's something up with the Colt Night Cobra, since it doesn't seem to lock up until the hammer's falling? Because even slow fire and being super deliberate, it just wasn't in any way predictable as to where the holes were going to appear...not even a pattern, just literally all over. Hrm

Anyway...as far as the 1911 went, I only chewed through half the mags before I said the hell with it, it's too cold and windy for this shit

Installed an Atlas S-ONE on the Stag 15, and a PA SLX 1x.

Borsighted the old fashioned way. First round at the 3 o'clock. Dialed correction and fired a 3 shot group.

A bit high at 100 yards, but light was disappearing fast, so I'll take it for now.

Factory trigger, no brake yet. Need an ALG ACT, and VG6 to make it complete.
