Thankfully, no pictures. I shot my first USPSA match in about five years today, using my G45 in Production. Of course, the first stage had a 25-yard Texas Star, which I haven't shot since the last time I shot a USPSA match. I think it took me 14 rounds, and there was enough paper that I burned through the total 41 rounds I had with me before I came to the last target. The other three stages went better, but boy, am I ever rusty!

One thing that was pretty cool was that everybody pasted and/or reset steel, minimizing time waiting to shoot. I've been to matches where some shooters believed that the match fee was admittance to an entertainment venue and they had no obligation to help.

For about the last ten years, Saturday mornings were devoted to a long ride or run. I strained my right hamstring badly enough that I can't ride or run for a while, so I get to shoot. I did not set any speed records moving between firing positions today.

    Shot the new SIG P322

    Really fun gun.
Ran great on Fed bulk pack 36gr hp and CCI minimag 40gr round nose. Acceptable accuracy and sights were on at 10 yards.

Totally choked on winchester super x bulk HPs like has been stated in a few reviews. Has to do with the bullet shape causing FTFs and the general inconsistency of that ammo.

Overall not a deal breaker for me as my stash is majority federal and CCI.

One other observation is that a vigorously inserted mag may auto forward the slide at times.

Otherwise not a bad gun for 4 hundo.

    Garcia dots

Been getting back into 2” Garcia dots at 7 yards.

Can clean them in about 4.3 seconds from a draw.

So moved the time goal to about 3.6 and still pretty decent (last three of four were clean).

Didn’t quite get there but maybe with a little more work.

Shot the local Falling Plate match yesterday. It's a version of the Bianchi Cup Falling Plate event.
"The Falling Plate Event: From the appropriate shooting line, the shooter fires at 8 inch round steel plates arranged in banks of six at distances from 10 to 25 yards under varying time limits." Time limit is 6 seconds at 10 yards, 8 seconds at 15, 10 seconds at 20, and 12 seconds at 25 yards. You're only allowed 1 round per plate.

I took 1st place with the pistol (G34.5 MOS w/ Holosun 509T and Johnny Glocks trigger) and 2nd place with the .22LR rifle with a Aimpoint in top out of 12 shooters.

Then I went over to the 25 yard pistol range to test 3 different bullseye loads I had put together for accuracy in the 6" .45 Clark longslide. This was 10 rounds of the middle load of W231 at 5.2 grs with a 185 gr JHP.
Shot those 10 rounds at 25 yards with my hands resting on my shooting bag. That old 1969 built Clark Custom 6" .45 ACP longslide can shoot. I wish my eyeballs were better... and my trigger control.

Shot with my wife today. First time in a couple years. We used to shoot regularly together when we worked pt at a range together. Ever since our daughter was born almost 2 years ago she hasn't shot. She likes shooting but doesn't really want to go by herself.

My mom's visiting from AZ so we got out for a little bit before I had to go to work.

She's never shot passed 100 yards and that was only once. It's always been 50 yards and in for rifles but today we laid down and shot at 200 yards. Her zero was a off but once I saw her strikes I was able to get her to get her hits. She had to aim a little high and right on the 10x12 plate and she was hitting almost every shot. I have no doubt with a better zero she'd be 100%

Then she shot her shield and her 2" m15. She did good except for DA shooting. So I just had her shoot SA today.

Had my dad old H&R 999 Sportsman out for some plinking. Was a lot of fun. Doesn't get much better than a 22 revolver and bunch of ammo.

Went back to the range with my 11yr old son today and shot the ruger 10/22T (target model), browning 1911-22 and zeroed the Sig P322 with a holosun 507k X2 green dot with federal champion bulk 36gr.

10 yards, 2.5 inch black circles, top target was cold unadjusted offhand, then went about 5 clicks up on the dot and shot bottom circle with a full mag of 20rds offhand.

Then attempted 25 yards on the 3 inch red diamonds offhand. I'm not a skilled distance shooter and was impressed by how much easier the dot makes things at that distance. Sig continues to impress me.

Went to the range this morning to put some rounds through my PMM JTTC’d G19.4. I am REALLY impressed with the JTTC dual port comp. Very impressive with just the stock recoil spring. Don’t think I’m even gone mess with a lighter one. Had a couple issues with some cheap Sgt. Major brand ammo, but it ran Wolf 115gr and Aguila 124gr without any issues. I’ve had issues with that Sgt. Major brand ammo in other guns so I wasn’t surprised.

Started the day with the Food Court drill. 8/10 with 1.5 seconds left. Then I ran 3 FAST. Avg’d 5.5 second runs. After that I wanted to try the Impact Shooting Center’s Flat Bill Standards. AIWB whipped my ass, but I did better with my duty gear. Still have work to do to pass this one. Vertical 3x5 box. 7 yards, 5 runs, 2 shots per. Total time can’t be over 9 seconds. I just used the 3x5 box on an MSP target.

Target can be found here: https://impactshootingcenter.com/impact-standards

After I gave that a shot, I decided to peruse through the KR Training book of drills standards and tests and see what looked like fun.

    https://krtraining.com/Drills-Qualif...ts-2021-05.pdf

I started with The Test. Ran it 2x and scored a 96 and a 100.

Then I ran the Super Test and scored a 285.

Then I ran Bill Wilson’s 5x5 Skill Test/IDPA Abbreviated Classifier. Total time with penalties was 20.79.

    Then I shot the Updated Gunsite 250 School Drill 2x. Shot a 44 and a 50.

Then last, but not least, I finished my pistol shooting with one of my favorite drills ever - the Casino Drill. I was pushing to see how fast I could go. Had 3 clean runs out of 7. 10.66 was my best clean time.

After that I broke out my 1301. Sadly, the faster 9 pellet loads designed for semi-autos (can’t remember the number and I’m too lazy to go look) didn’t pattern well (reliably) beyond 15 yards.

The gun functioned great. I ran a bunch of leftover ammo from years of 3 gun plus whatever I’ve collected for the last 20 years through it. Ate everything I fed it. Although the magnum loads I fed it weren’t pleasant to shoot.

Looking through my ammo can I found a box of Hornady 8 pellet 1100fps VersaTite wad loads. Decided to try those with in my Tac-14 with that DEA modified choke barrel. Talk about pleasant and accurate.

I helped with an event at the local club. Someone had a Shield EZ in 9mm as a loaner and I had an opportunity to put a few rounds through it. I’d not handled one before. It made me think about putting one away for the future when I get old and feeble.

I then shot the Handgun Combatives Three Round Fadeback with my 2.0 Compact (outer cards) and my CORE/ACRO (center card).
