It was an absolutely awesome day to be a dog today. Not too bad being a human either. 50 deg or so, sunshine, calm. Took the dog and a couple guns out, shot the 73 Winchester a few rounds of factory 357 158 jsp, it was dead on at roughly 150 yards with factory carbine sights shooting at fist to quart size rocks. Very happy with it, very mild recoil, not much muzzle blast in the 20" barrel. It looks like its definitely minute of coyote to 150 yards or so to cover the dog when out and about. I need to spend some quality time out with it to see how it does at longer distances.
Also shot a few rounds in the cut down Winchester 94 angle eject with 1-4 Leupold, I had shot all of about 5 or 6 rds before rough zeroing in the yard, it was also right on at around 150 yards using some 170 gr loads I apparently loaded in the early 1980s.
Also shot 6 rds with the Colt Officers Model Match, it needed about 2 clicks left at around 100 yards, but was otherwise quite satisfying to shoot and good to see the new hand is working mostly well, just a little fine tuning left to do.
Walked around with the dog a bit after shooting, worked up a bit of a sweat in long sleeve shirt and canvas vest, had to roll my sleeves up. I then drove a couple minutes up the road to see if I could spot any goats or sheep. I didnt have binoculars, and couldnt see any up on the mountain. It was nice just being out though, well worth the drive.
