I checked the zero with turkey loads in my 1187, shot a few drills with my daily carry M&P40 2.0C, and a couple mags through the M&P22C.

    Question

Joined a new members only outdoor range with a buddy.

Zeroed the RDS on my Zastava M92 Krink pistol:

Had an interesting malfunction with one of the all polymer Zastava mags. Had a failure to eject and feed issue at the same time. When I removed the mag the loose live round dropped out but the empty wedged itself into this position. No issues with M3 Pmags.

Also got to shoot my buddy’s new Atlas. It’s very nice, nicer than a Stacatto,,but IMHO not twice as nice as a Stacatto.

Vector 7.62x39 AKM in a Green Ops AK class. I had the least Gucci AK there. Lots of Rifle Dynamics guns, lots of suppressed guns tuned with KNS gas pistons etc.

My 2007 vintage Vector is a standard AKM built from a parts kit on a Global Sales receiver with a Tapco G2 trigger.. Swapped pistol grip, added sling, Ultimak, Holosun RDS and SF light in a VTAC mount.

Gear takeaway - need a Krebs extended AK safety. You can make the standard AK safety work but it’s gonna cost you some time.

Homework - need to work AK reloads.

Great class, though I was probably the only student who was not a serious AK nerd.

AK operators union offers a safety with a shelf, but no bolt hold open notch, which I prefer. I’ve always just used a chamber flag when range rules required. The tab is kinda wide so it can be cut back some if you want to.

Even though I sold them off years ago, everything about this post makes me want to get my AK on again...dammit!

AKs are in high demand right now due to ammo availability.

Speaking of ammo, the majority of the AK’s in the class were 5.45 or 5.56.

As much as I'd like another 5.45, I'm sitting on 3-4K of 7.62 and 0 5.45 so that makes the choice a little easier...

I haven’t had the chance to see both in the same room at the same time. I liked the one a friend had, it worked and let me use just an index finger to operate it, though as mentioned I’d probably cut the tab back a bit for personal use. I just have a bias against having a hole in the dust cover. Sealed systems are good.

My long orangutan fingers and use profile have put upgrading the safety on my personal rifles towards the bottom of the list of gun stuff I need, but if you decide to get one and hate it I’ll buy it for what you paid.
