Love the pistol and the groups from such a small handgun. I just picked up a Walther P 22 today and I'm anxious to start breaking it in. I have plenty of CCI Mini Mags and will then shoot Aquilla 40 ounce .22s seeing what works best. I have a few bricks of 22 S-V and hope these will function as well.

I also got to shoot my Volquartsen Black Mamba and S&W 617. I had to re sight it in after swapping out the standard low profile front partridge sight for a .300 fiber optic. I shot much better with the 617, even with Blazers. I had a 12 inch Shoot & See target and kept all in the black, at least to one side of the target. Now it's centered and I can play with my others.

I don’t know what’s going on, but the last couple of range trips I’ve made involved detours to Shanksville. I don’t know if I was so focused on my sights I was snatching the trigger or letting my grip relax or all of the above.

Today I’m that guy who posted this in two threads ‘cause I’m kinda stoked. Colt 6933 upper with comp m4 on a bcm lower, a buddy spotting for me and a quick strelok guesstimate got me these hits at 512 yards in 12 rounds of some old rooskie steel cased ammo fired. I was also making some good hits at 200 and 300 on 6” steel plates.

Today I shot my new (to me) M1 Garand ...

I have never, ever fired an M1 Garand before; I've been itching to get it to the range. It was a beautiful day today, so my wife and I took a country cruise to the outdoor range about 40 miles away.

I set the sights as suggested on YouTube (windage centered, elevation 8 clicks up) and put the target out at 50 yards. I put 4 clips and a single round down the pipe. One click left and two up before the last clip. It didn't kick like I thought it would (my old Mini-14 was much worse), and when I fetched the target I was pleased to see all 33 shots made a hole. Not too bad for a first time, if I do say so myself!

We don't judge here. Maybe because I've done the same thing... And your posts have me thinking about a 6933 upper even though I prefer a 12.5".

I also shot my purple pirate pistol with some powder blue powder coated lead balls. Yes, I had blue balls at the range.
No pics of the powder coated ammo unfortunately. This is an old pic.

Forgot to take my typical range glamor shot so I snapped this as I was unpacking. My PTR-91, S&W M&P15-22 pistol, and my dedicated .22lr AR pistol.

I put 220 rounds through the PTR, that was fun but my shoulder still hurts the next day. Mostly brass surplus ammo but also 60 rounds of steel cased Wolf I had on hand. Had 3 malfunctions that might have been mag related, not sure. Had a few surplus mags that looked to be in really good condition, then I found one with a separated feed lip so that got set aside. Another decided to stop feeding from the right side halfway through the mag. I could not get the gun to pick up the round in the mag so I unloaded it and put them in another mag. And another the follower went almost 90 degrees for some reason. So I'm guessing the jams I had were probably also mag related.

The 15-22 had many malfunctions, mainly ejection but some light strikes. Put in an order for some Volquartsen parts that should have that all fixed up. The gun was also dirty so maybe that had something to do with it.

The .22 AR ran a lot better than the M&P but still not great. I've tried 4 different kinds of ammo in both guns but it also doesn't seem to like anything. Hopefully it's mostly a combo of everything being pretty new and dirty? I'll try it with some CCI next time.

Started learning to shoot my new .38 LCR. Emphasis on “started.” There’s clearly plenty of learning to do. For example, do not exceed 100 rounds in a session. Didn’t notice this little surprise until the very end.

Welcome to lightweight snubs :-) Assuming it's from the cylinder release, like a Smith J frame, locking the right hand thumb down helps. Light recoil ammo like mid-range wadcutters helps even more. A good set of wraparound grips can alleviate too. I've had more than one airweight J draw blood with full power standard pressure ammo...
