One of my wife's absolute favorites. (And mine as well.)

Not so sure. That movie is the closets I've seen to what life on the job is actually like. It's a hell of a lot more realistic than Cops.

Super Troopers is one of my favorite movies of all time.

(Okay, half the soundtrack is great, the other half is disco or somesuch shit)

Also, one of those movies that are better than the book.
True story: Eastwood sent Reynolds the script for Any Which Way But Loose, and Reynolds told him "You make Smokey And The Bandit in California and I'll make Dirty Harry in Atlanta."
    Brian Keith and Bernie Casey:

Clockers is good but it is more of a crime / gang movie than cop movie.

Very good but it’s a TV show rather than a movie.

With bias to my era & the early influences ... while there are several I enjoy, Colors would be my favorite without hesitation. I was thinking about the movie the other day. I remember several of my college classmates bailing from a friday afternoon criminal justice class to go catch the movie's opening in our city. Near the end of my career, and having worked/trained with both LAPD CRASH and LASD OSS, I appreciate the movie all the more but from a different perspective.

A trainee had to talk me into watching End of Watch and I'm glad he did. I enjoy that one a lot. As I do anything Wambaugh was involved in. They are uniformed, patrol centric films. Which is where all but one of my assignments have been.

I didn't watch LA Confidential until I was finishing my under-grad stuff and I took film study. It is a good film. SuperTroopers is funnier than hell but that doesn't make it a cop film.

TV wise ... 240Robert had a huge influence on me looking towards L/E, High Incident was excellent, Barney Miller is spot-freaking-on about being a detective, Southland got an awful lot right.

Movie: Heat. (This one was difficult; so many to choose.)

    TV series: Police Story.

The first indication a bad guy should have that I'm dangerous is when his
disembodied soul is looking down at his own corpse wondering what happened.
