My Daughter Wants Me to Teach Her to Shoot. Help Me Out

Shooting is very technical, and we're technical folk. That's why we're here on PF. But the biggest piece of the puzzle will be to understand why she wants to learn. Cater her experience to her desires, and she'll have a lifetime to get to the technical parts

My guess is that she's seen me handle and talk about handling guns, and wants to try it herself (she's something of a Daddy's Girl and she's got my sense of humor). When I took ECQC, she asked me what it was like. When I told her, her reaction was, "Cool! Can you take me next time?"

It happened over the long weekend. Everything went well. "Guerrerita" LOVED shooting the .22 (a Winchester Model 69 [insert snicker here]). I've never shot .22 short before; it's almost comically soft shooting. She thought the the AR was a little "too loud" and her hands were a bit small to keep a good grip on the PX4, but she tried them all with a smile on her face... then wanted to shoot the Win '69 some more.

I shot my USPSA Classifier match last Tuesday. My squad included a young girl of 16 and her dad.

IIRC she was in M class going for GM. She was a pretty good shot.
