Thread: Glock 26 Gen 5

According to dimensions leaked to RECOIL by a third party with ties to Glock’s Austrian headquarters, compared to the dimensions of the G43, the G43X grip is “4mm wider and 15mm longer than a G43” to accommodate its new ten-round magazine.

If they do release the G43X pure marketing genius. Release the G42 knowing the G43 would be more popular. Release the G43 knowing that a "G43X" would be even more popular. In this manner, sell a bunch of G42, then G43, then G43X.

When people say you “lose shootability” going to a Glock 26.

I didn’t plan on shooting my G26.5 today, but after I zero’d my Aimpoint, I figured what the hell.

I just drew my pistol and shot 3 rounds of 147gr HST while standing. Sleet was in my face; but it seems fine.

    50 yards:

I have been told that when a three letter federal agency tested, the Glock 26 was the most accurate pistol, excluding their custom 1911 pistols, they evaluated at 50 yards.

Really depends how you define shootability — a Glock 26 gives up performance to larger pistols when considering the draw, reloading and recoil control, but not in intrinsic accuracy.
Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.

Agree - but even that can be measured by shooter. For example, I guarantee I can still out draw and land hits faster than every Glock 19 shooter I personally know.

Reloading speed to me is a non-issue for concealed carry, but obviously matters in gun games.

My point was more geared towards individuals who shoot less than 1,000 rounds per year trying to rationalize their deficiencies.

Shot the 43X and 48 today; another USA slide 26 followed me home.

What did you disklike about the 43x/48 or like more about to 26?

I'm in the market for a 10rd pistol, already have G19 mags and looking to try a 43x prior to buying a 26.5

    “In my opinion:”

I think they shoot like small guns and the 26 feels like a duty pistol missing a pinky rest. You can add a small extension if you can’t get past that mental roadblock.

I bit my tongue in the thread dedicated to them, because I realize most people are just hobbyist who are excited to try something new. I have plenty of friends like this. No offense, but when someone is thrilled with failing a dot torture at 3-5 yards I’m not really interested in their take on how amazingly accurate a particular pistol is.

Also, I already have a lot of mags, parts, and holsters for my 19’s and 26’s. I’d rather spend the money on ammunition.

Finally, I am sure they will turn out fine. But, I don’t like beta-testing a new pistol and magazine design. People have run 100 rounds through the thing and they suddenly think their quest for the ultimate weapon is over. It’s just a silly approach to me.
