Five Yard Roundup on turning targets (scoring question)

The DOTW thread is closed, so ...

I've been shooting this on turning targets. It's a great drill that really exposes my weaknesses - speed to the target and shot cadence.

My difficulty is scoring. When I'm pushing the speed on the turning targets, it's rare (not impossible) to get a late hit. Over a big sample, I'd bet you'd find that average scores are lower on turning targets because people won't get the 2- to 5-point "partial credit" for late shots.

So my question is: If you miss (no hole anywhere on the paper), is that actually a -10 off the total score, or just a zero (-10 from possible)? In other words, am I understanding right that scoring goes like this:

Within scoring rings = score as printed
On paper, outside rings = zero (no points but no penalty)
    Nothing on paper = -10

Seems like this would make sense in terms of accountability for shots fired. But it's destroying my ego.

Count the hits you have on paper. If you missed or fired after the turn, you get nothing.

Thanks - that'll add 10 points to my last couple scores!

Sorry we won't be seeing you in VA this weekend.
