Flush the toilet to mask the sound, if you are that paranoid; I know, revolutionary.

I bought a trayvax cinch belt and have been wearing it a lot. But its a single layer and can not hold a heavy gun very well. I like the simplicity of the buckle but its still bigger then what I want.

This specialist belt looks perfect for low key and still have a good bit of rigidity to it. I also appreciate the velcro. My snapon work belt is velcro only and works pretty damn well. But is way too flimsy and thick for ccw work.

I like my Specialist a lot, even better than the previous generation of the design (Mastermind Tactics Mnmlist?) since the Specialist also works well when not carrying AIWB whereas the previous version was too thin to support something like an ALS holster. Prior to these belts, I wore a Wilderness instructor belt and, while I liked it, I hated having to wear the buckle off center. I'm too thin to keep a buckle like that at 12 o'clock next to an AIWB carried gun. The whole setup printed very obviously. The buckle on the Specialist is unobtrusive and low profile enough that I can wear it to the 12 o'clock.

I've never been concerned with the sound of velcro opening giving me away as someone who's armed. Plenty of belts have velcro on them and I don't think it's something most people automatically associate with concealed carriers.
My posts only represent my personal opinion and do not necessarily reflect the opinions or official policies of any employer, past or present. Obvious spelling errors are likely the result of an iPhone keyboard.

Just got my ‘shivworks’ signature red thread yesterday. What a great belt; just as advertised, it’s flexible enough to move and be confortable (comfort on par with a single-layer web) and stiff enough across to support an AIWB rig (stiff on par with dual-layer cobra buckle designs).

I made my case in the "velcro thread" why velcro is an issue for me. For this belt, I’ll work around those problems. Two thumbs up.

I didn't know that was a thing. Now I gotta buy another belt.

I've only once walked into a bathroom and heard anything that I cared to think extra about. And that was because the weirdo security guy followed me and had his hand on his sausage casing holstered Sigma, while I was standing taking a piss. I'm still not sure why, but the conversation after is the only thing I can think of that I cared to think extra about, while in a public bathroom.

    Velcro? Nope.

    Grunts? Nope.

Other extraneous bodily function noises? Nope. Nope. Nope.

Rob, I think it's time you come to terms with this fixation of yours on all things related to your rectum. If not for yourself, for the children...

There's nothing civil about this war.

The problem is...butts and poop jokes are funny.

Returning to this thread, I use either a Graith Specialist or a Wilderness FF for my everyday belts. The Graith is basically perfect for every day casual wear and IWB wear with a sub-30 ounce gun and in particular AIWB. Now, if you want to carry OWB or a heavier gun IWB, I think the Graith is a little too flexible. In those scenarios, I prefer the Wilderness.

I have old man's ears. Try as I might, I didn't catch the name of that G-17 holster Craig was reviewing. Can anybody help?

As others have noted the Specialist has a great blend of vertical rigidity and flexibility. This combination lends itself very well to AIWB but can be used for virtually any concealed carry need. The Specialist was initially designed as an AIWB belt, but it really is practical for most any EDC situation where a low-profile belt is desirable. We currently have Specialist belts being worn by the expected LE/MIL/CCW community but also by many that don’t use the Specialist as a gun belt at all, ranging from mechanics to archeologists.

The Specialist utilizes a very low-profile buckle which works in tandem with a hook and loop closure. This two-part securing method allows for the use of a small buckle and for a quick and easy adjustment to get the fit just right for you. While the buckle does provide some mechanical retention, it needs the hook and loop closure to work as designed, and it really isn’t possible to make a belt with as small of a footprint as the Specialist without utilizing a hook and loop closure.

Occasionally we have people say that they won’t wear a hook and loop belt because it will get them got when utilizing a public restroom. If you are forced to take a dump in a public restroom I do think there are likely more pressing concerns than the sound of the hook and loop getting you killed.

Nevertheless, if you require a belt without a hook and loop closure we do have a new belt in the works that will launch sometime this fall.
IF my waist is a 32-34, should I order the 34? Thanks!
