Used my timer beep to initiate all draws. Used 6&7 for additional reload practice: loaded each magazine with only four rounds, changed at slide lock, holstered, and got set for the next string.

Dropped one barely out (low) on 2, and another really low on 9. Diagnosis: I need more work on precision draw to initial shots. And to not rush things.

In a general sense, if we suck at one aspect of the drill, and don't usually, it can indicate that our practice should incorporate some more of that skill.

But 100% of it is a trigger control drill, 100% is done at the same distance, 100% at the same size target, 100% is untimed and 80% is freestyle.

That depends a lot on how you choose to shoot it. While I've not personally timed the drill, I do push myself to shoot as fast as I can still do so accurately. Drawing from a holster, transitions, and reloads are also something found in this drill. Anyway, let's take this discussion elsewhere if you'd like to continue, and let folks post their experiences with Dot Torture here.

I love this drill! Shot it 2x this morning.

Gun and holster used: HK P30 LEM 9mm, JMCK AIWB holsters concealed under t-shirt
    Distance: 7 yards
    Total score: 50/50
Anything you noticed: Shot cold using a P30 LEM with Trijicon HDXR sights. Felt pretty good and relaxed at this distance. Using the LEM feels like cheating until you get to one hand shooting.

Same gear, moved back to 10 yards
    Total score: 47/50
Anything you noticed: Strong/weak hand shots are more challenging for me at this distance, but doable. Placed one shot high on circle two being a bit careless. I don't remember ever shooting this drill two times in a row; it's fatiguing toward the end.

    Shot this twice today.

G43 at 4 yds 50/50. A new personal best with that gun.

There were some close ones and I agree with @DEG above. Shooting it twice in a row is very tiring. Fantastic shooting. 7 Yards seems intimidating and 10 Yards seems downright humanly impossible lol

    Glock 17 Gen 3.

I find this really boring. 46/50 but now it looks like a 45/50 to me.

I have shot this drill for a number of years; I believe I was first introduced to it at a class by the late Todd Green. I often use it to “introduce” myself to a new sidearm/equipment. If I recall correctly, I went to 7 yards with Todd, but typically shoot at 3. The find it useful for focus, both visually and kinesthetically with the trigger.
Equipment: Gen 5 G19 w/Bold sights(orange front), out of an Alessi Ankle holster. (I know, but this is a workout with this combo. FWIW
the Alessi is the best ankle holster, IMHO-used one for decades.)
    3 yards, 50/50, “clean”(reloading from pocket). Pass.
The Bold orange front really pops on lit indoor range. I was “semi-conscious” of working the trigger, NOT trying to force the shot, which would result in a jerk or “El Snatcho” as Vickers terms it. That resulted in shooting strings a little faster it seemed.
I’m going to try 4-5 yards with the 17.
Thanks to Messrs. Blinder, Green and White for their efforts

First 50 out of the new G19.5
    3 yards
49/50 Fail. Grease ring is touching the black on the miss. I should have center punched that shot.

The second run pissed me off. I dropped the last shot on dot 7 cuz I got in a hurry.
