Achieved SOTA Mountain Goat last weekend.
142 summits and nearly 1200 contacts in just under 4 years.

I did get one, along with another N0SA key directly. Nice little paddles, shitty fist, nonexistent ear. Working on the last two.

There's a local amateur club where we recently moved to that I'm thinking about joining. So I got my radio out and am messing around with it again. I've been monitoring their traffic on my local repeater, as well as the weekly net they host on Monday nights. Seems like a good solid group.

Question: Re: ARRL, do ya'll find that to be a useful resource these days? I recall looking into it in 2022 when I got my Technician license, but never joined up.

    Thanks a bunch...rich KO4ZMP

    I’m still a member of ARRL, I think it’s a good organization.

I haven't been a member in over a decade. I never saw the value and their online resources were a hot mess at the time (and apparently still are, but older hams struggle with technology so who knows). It also sounds like they are dealing with similar end-stage corruption issues as the NRA, just not as public or expensive.

I'm just going to continue taking my radios out to the mountains and having fun without another "association" to join.

Anyone participating in the W4V campout this weekend?

I just got a S2S with AC1Z and NZ4R from Eastern WA on 15m. 229s or 339s but we got it done!

I would like to but they always hold them a long drive from NoVA and always on a weekend I'm not free. On top of that, at least here in NoVA, it's going to be a rainy weekend.

AC1Z has worked me a number of times for S2S (that sounds dirty), but NZ4R hasn't. He used to go out with his daughter and I'd get a twofer S2S, but I haven't heard her on the air in a while.

Yeah, I've had QSOs with KO4LIT in the past but it's been a while. She's a M.G. so she's a better SOTAteer than I am.

Dude, congrats on M.G. by the way. I didn't know that happened.
