Thread: Slow down time.

  1. #11
After trying several different techniques I have settled on a few things that help me shoot SHO and WHO. As already mentioned, getting the elbow behind the gun, gripping hard, I use side tension from the thumb unlike freestyle were I just get them out of the way. At times I have also used tension in the back of the wrist and hand, but the most important is practicing all of those in daily dryfire and occasional live fire.

This thread inspired me to work on SHO/WHO today. I shot Ben Stoeger’s Fixed Time Standards:

5 second par time, 3 USPSA targets, 30 yd freestyle, 20yd SHO, 10yd WHO. Draw and fire 2 per target for each string.

According to Ben, a legit GM score is 80 pts for minor power factor. I shot a 79.
    30: 5A 1C
    20: 4A 1C (didn’t get the last shot off)
    10: 5A 1C

Yeah, I’m happy to stay in M for a while. The pool is pretty deep in G.

Dammit. I just realized that the par times were supposed to be 4s for each string in that drill. No wonder I scored so well.
