My great-uncle was a machinist/metal worker from a time where "men were men" and "safety equipment is for pansies". He spent the last 15 years of his life with a patch over his left socket, because he never wore safety glasses while grinding metal, and had several metallic splinters in his left eye. His story about what happened when they turned the MRI on was...unsettling.

I've scratched my cornea with metal flake in the past. I didn't THINK I had any embedded flakes but it's hard to know for sure.

I had a convo about my concerns with the MRI Tech before my head was scanned. Apparently welders and whatnot that have experienced far worse than I did have made it through OK. I can't say I wasn't a bit apprehensive.

I figured the only reason they asked is because someone (probably more than one) had an unsettling experience...
Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Doodie Project?

I bought one of these ‘shoot me first’ tactical hats last year to use at the range:

Condor Tactical Cap (Tan, One Size Fits All)

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001R4VVR4..._.2CFBbADJNF6Y

Problem is, it works well enough I’ve started wearing it other than shooting. SWMBO has provided negative feedback that ‘I look like a Goober’. Clearly I’m not a social butterfly, but what non-Tactical hats do you guys like?

Not a fan of trucker mesh / CAT / Plastic tab versions. Looking on Amazon, I found a few Dad Hats (what the heck is a Dad Hat?!) in twill / cloth that look promising.

    Here is an example:

Plain Washed Cotton Twill Baseball Cap with Adjustable Velcro (Navy 73B)

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YHU3B50..._09CFBb3QAQPQA

    Any other good suggestions?

I'd say a local state or popular university hat would be pretty lowkey and blend in. Example: I only wear fitted Texas A&M baseball caps.

I got one of those Condor hats with a “Saint Michael Protect Us” patch for Father’s Day.

Yeah I may look like a Tactical Timmy with it, but I wear the hell out of it because it is quite comfy.

I have a couple of the Hillpeople Gear ball caps made from a light cotton. Very comfortable in warm weather

I prefer the “harmless old geezer” vibe of a Woodenboat hat.

Lots of color choices, subtle logo, comfortable. Just be prepared for occasional questions about your boat.....

Looks like it could be a flying swan or you are a viking raider. Id lean towards the latter if asked.

It is supposed to be an end view of a Viking longship. Much more elegant than the plywood canoe I built.
