So the question is now, do pro-gun control people read this and think “maybe we’ve been dealing with this issue all wrong” or do they think “well if they’re all just as deadly then ban them all!”?

Unfortunately, it's been decades since "common sense" was a viable approach to dealing with issues and weighty matters. It will be a painful uphill slog to try to reinstate it into the national psyche once again.
There's nothing civil about this war.

The Washington Post gave Sanders "four Pinocchios" on the "gun show loophole" shit, and he's still throwing that around.

Gotta try though, like 6x10 squat day, we gotta try.

Between this article, and the NPR "on point" segment the other day, where the guest (and host) actually had their heads in the fresh air outside of their asses, I’m seeing a curious trend of mainstream media outlets actually looking at some facts as the new way to keep their listeners/readers glued to the channel. Amazing, really.

The obvious problem with the entire "common sense gun laws" approach is the implication that "common sense" equals "simple." And people like the concept of "simple" because people are essentially lazy, accounting for the path of least resistance approach because it's easier. For politicians, that equals the elusive "compromise" and "middle ground" everyone screams about but nobody really wants.

There are no simple, easy solutions. In a free society there probably is no absolute solution at all to end violence. Or theft. Or drug abuse. Or divorce. Or rolling through stop signs.

Another problem with the "common sense" approach, is that common sense relies on human perception, which is flawed (subjective reality). Science was developed to test our perceptions and help us understand what's really going on (objective reality).
